How much do you know about testicular cancer

How much do you know about testicular cancer? When it comes to testicular cancer, many people may feel unfamiliar with it, because the incidence of this cancer is not high, and it is a cancer exclusive to men, so many people don’t know much about it. Although the incidence is not high, its harm is very great, because it tends to affect young and middle-aged people. Next, let’s learn about this disease.

Testicular cancer occurs in testicular tissue, has a complex pathological origin, and is relatively rare clinically, accounting for about 1% of all male malignant tumors. The main incidence population is young men in their fertility peak, so it has a relatively large impact on society. However, the cure rate of testicular cancer is very high, with a survival rate of 95% or even higher. Therefore, in the field of oncology, testicular cancer is a very important malignant tumor.

Testicular cancer is one of the common tumors in urology. It is almost always malignant, and there are three peaks in the age of onset: yolk sac tumors (infantile embryonal tumors) are the most common in infancy; various types of testicular tumors can be seen between the ages of 20 and 40, but seminomas are still the most common; and seminomas are mainly found after the age of 70. Its cause is still unclear, and it is currently believed that its onset is related to both genetic and acquired factors. Among them, it is most closely related to cryptorchidism. The chance of cryptorchidism developing tumors is 10 to 14 times greater than that of normal people. Cryptorchidism in the abdominal cavity is higher than that in the groin. Testicular fixation does not reduce the incidence of malignant changes, but it can make tumors easier to detect.

As one of the most common cancers in young men, the cause of testicular cancer is not well known. According to statistics, the incidence rate of testicular cancer in men is 7 per 100,000, and it is increasing year by year. The cause is usually the metastasis of malignant tumors.

Testicular cancer is currently the malignant solid tumor with the highest clinical cure rate. Even for patients with testicular cancer that has metastasized, there is a high chance of clinical cure through surgery and combined radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Therefore, it is important to emphasize that the goal of testicular cancer treatment is to achieve cure, not to alleviate or prolong survival time.

Testicular cancer is common in men aged 15-35. The incidence rate varies greatly around the world, with higher rates seen in many European countries and lower rates in the Far East, including China. The incidence rate is 6 per 100,000 men per year, but the incidence rate is increasing year by year. Cryptorchidism and viral infection are risk factors for testicular cancer.
