Why does the wound itch after anal fistula surgery?

Anal fistula is a common disease. When suffering from anal fistula, there will usually be redness, swelling and pus around the anus. It needs to be treated in time. If anal fistula is not treated in time, many complications will occur, which is particularly harmful to human health. Anal fistula is usually treated by surgery. Everyone knows that there will be wounds after anal fistula surgery. Some people will have itchy wounds after surgery. What's going on?

Why does the wound itch after anal fistula surgery?

Generally, itching symptoms will occur during the recovery process. This is more likely to happen when the wound is healing. You can consider using light salt water, Chinese medicine or potassium permanganate solution for external use for sitting baths to keep the anus clean and dry and relieve symptoms.

What causes anal fistula in men?

1. Bacterial infection: Since the anorectal area is an important passage, bacteria can easily invade the anal crypts and anal glands, causing infection, gradually forming abscesses, and rupturing to form anal fistulas.

2. Rectal injury: Injury and trauma to the rectum and anus, bone foreign bodies, metals, anal tables and anoscopes from the digestive tract that damage the anal canal and rectum, and bacteria invading the wound can cause perianal abscesses. If not treated in time, they can lead to anal fistulas.

3. Infections such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Actinomycetes, which form abscesses and Crohn's disease, are difficult to heal on their own and form special anal fistulas.

4. Bloodstream infection such as diabetes, leukemia, aplastic anemia, etc., due to the decreased body resistance, can often cause anal fistula (anorectal fistula) due to bloodstream infection.

5. Perianal abscess Perianal abscess is one of the important factors leading to anal fistula. Because feces are retained in the anal crypts, perianal abscesses are caused, but patients often do not take it seriously. After the perianal abscess ruptures, the abscess cavity gradually shrinks, and the external ulcer and crypt also shrink. The cavity wall forms a solid tubular wall with hyperplasia of connective tissue, which becomes a fistula, and anal fistula is thus formed.

6. Over-deep injection of internal hemorrhoids during perineal surgery or postoperative infection, infection after perineal suture after delivery, infection after prostate and urethra surgery, etc., all of which may affect the anorectum and cause abscesses and fistulas.
