What harm does pituitary tumor do to the body

The incidence of pituitary tumors is obviously higher in men than in women, because men are under much more pressure in life. In order to support their families, they often need to work overtime and stay up late. People with low resistance are likely to suffer from pituitary tumors. Everyone knows that pituitary tumors have a great impact on the body, but what harm do pituitary tumors do to the body?

1. Damage to structures surrounding the tumor: As the tumor grows, it invades and compresses important surrounding structures, such as the optic nerve, cavernous sinus, basilar cerebral artery, hypothalamus, brain stem, etc., leading to corresponding functional disorders. Patients with pituitary tumors show symptoms such as decreased vision, visual field defects, hemiplegia, fixed eyeballs, diplopia, intellectual and memory disorders, mental changes, headaches, hydrocephalus, etc.

2. Multiple organ damage: Hypersecretion of pituitary hormones causes damage to the functions of many organs, resulting in heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, cerebral arteriosclerosis, and cerebral ischemia.

3. Metabolic disorders: Decreased blood potassium, sodium, chloride, and calcium, resulting in weakness, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal distension, and multiple spontaneous fractures throughout the body, most commonly ribs and vertebrae.

4. Endocrine disorders: Pituitary tumors with secretory functions secrete hyperhormones, causing an increase in the patient's PRL, GH, ACTH, TSH and other hormones, thereby causing menstrual disorders, lactation, miscarriage, infertility, sexual dysfunction, obesity, ugly face, gigantism, increased hands and feet, increased hair, rough skin, etc.; those with hypopituitarism will show symptoms of fatigue, fear of cold, etc.

Today I have introduced to you the harm of pituitary tumors to the body, I hope it will be helpful. It should be noted that pituitary tumors are benign tumors, most of which can be successfully cured after early treatment, and the various symptoms caused by them will gradually disappear and return to health, so early and timely treatment is very important.
