What are the specific examinations and analyses of pituitary tumors?

Pituitary tumor is a common brain disease. The first symptom is headache. Many people don't care until the pain is unbearable before going to the hospital for examination. They are also skeptical about the examinations the doctor asks them to do, fearing that it will be useless and waste money. So what are the specific examinations and analyses of pituitary tumors?

1. Pathological diagnosis of pituitary adenoma: This is the most reliable diagnostic method with a very low misdiagnosis rate. Pathological diagnosis is divided into conventional HE staining and light microscopy. This operation can only be used as a general diagnosis and cannot distinguish the type of tumor. Immunohistochemical staining, based on the diagnosis of hormones contained in tumor cells, has high sensitivity, but a high misdiagnosis rate. Electron microscopy observation. According to the different characteristics of tumor cells, tumor types are rarely used.

2. Endocrine diagnosis of pituitary adenoma: Since most pituitary tumors are accompanied by hormone secretion function, the clinical manifestations are not obvious, and the images cannot indicate the tumor, and the hormones of the pituitary tumor change. Some pituitary adenomas can be diagnosed through endocrine examinations. For example, in most cases, the tumor cannot be seen from the imaging of adrenocorticotropic hormone cell adenoma. Rare pituitary tumors metastasize to the chest cavity, abdomen and other parts, and are mainly diagnosed by endocrine.

3. Imaging diagnosis of pituitary adenoma: (1) X-ray film: This is a relatively primitive diagnostic method. It determines the presence of tumor diagnosis and differential diagnosis based on changes in the sella turcica and sellar region calcification. (2) CT scan: It is only valuable for the diagnosis of large pituitary adenomas. Small pituitary tumors are easily missed. It cannot be used as the main tool for the diagnosis of pituitary adenomas. (3) MRI examination: The most important tool for the diagnosis of pituitary tumors. It can show the size, shape, location, and relationship of the tumor with the surrounding area. Even tumors with a diameter of 2-3 mm can be displayed. However, some tumors are similar to normal pituitary tissue. It is difficult to distinguish between the two, and diagnosis requires a combination of clinical manifestations and endocrine examinations.

I hope that everyone will maintain good living habits and take measures to prevent pituitary tumors to avoid inconvenience in your life.
