How to treat soft fibroma on the skin

Soft fibromas on the skin are usually benign tumors that usually do not require treatment, but if they are unsightly, uncomfortable, or become infected, they can be removed through methods including surgical excision, electrocautery, or laser treatment.

1Surgical resection

Surgical excision is a common method for treating soft fibroids. After local anesthesia, the doctor uses a scalpel or surgical scissors to accurately remove the tumor and suture or disinfect the wound. This method is suitable for larger soft fibroids and is usually effective with a high cure rate. However, it may leave a slight scar and require follow-up care, such as regular disinfection and keeping the wound dry to prevent infection.

2 Electrocautery

Electrocautery uses high-frequency electric current to burn away soft fibroids. The operation is quick and does not require recovery time. It is very suitable for smaller and more numerous fibroids. The doctor will perform the operation under local anesthesia to reduce pain, but there may be a slight burning sensation or temporary color change after the operation. It is necessary to keep the skin clean after the operation and try to avoid sun exposure.

3. Laser treatment

Laser removal is an advanced non-invasive treatment. A high-energy laser beam can be used to precisely target the fibroids, leaving minimal damage to the surrounding skin. This method is suitable for patients who have a high aesthetic requirement or do not wish to undergo traditional surgery. Slight redness and swelling may occur after treatment, but usually returns to normal after a few days.

4 Medication Management and Self-Care

For very small soft fibroids, your doctor may recommend topical medications, such as ointments containing salicylic acid or urea, to gradually soften and shrink the tissue. Keeping your skin clean and avoiding rubbing the affected area can relieve symptoms. If redness, swelling, pain, or infection occurs, you should see a doctor immediately to prevent the lesion from getting worse.

Although soft fibroids are usually harmless, if they grow larger, increase in number, or are accompanied by other abnormal symptoms, you should still consult a professional doctor in time for confirmation and treatment to avoid affecting your health or quality of life.
