Many patients with thyroid cancer feel very distressed after being diagnosed, and they fear that they cannot be cured. Today we will take you to understand, is benign thyroid cancer easy to cure?

The question of whether benign thyroid cancer is easy to cure is not difficult to answer. Many patients with benign thyroid cancer have been cured. These cured patients include patients with various types of thyroid cancer. Therefore, everyone should have confidence in the cure rate of benign thyroid cancer. Let us classify and understand the cure status of various types of benign thyroid cancer:

1. Papillary adenocarcinoma: It accounts for the vast majority of thyroid cancers, about 60 to 70 percent, and is more common in women and those under 40 years old. It is less malignant and is mostly benign, with a slow course and a good prognosis. After surgical treatment, more than 90 percent of patients can survive for a long time.

2. Follicular adenocarcinoma: It accounts for 15% to 20% of thyroid cancer. It is more common in middle-aged women, prone to distant metastasis, and has a moderate degree of malignancy. Some benign patients can achieve a cure rate of up to 90% with long-term use of thyroxine after surgical treatment.

3. Medullary carcinoma: It accounts for 5 to 10% of the cases. Sometimes, symptoms completely unrelated to the clinical manifestations of the disease may occur, such as diarrhea, facial flushing and sweating, asthma, and headache. This is due to the secretion of bioactive substances by cancer cells. Other manifestations are similar to those of general thyroid cancer. The cure rate of patients with benign cancer can reach more than 85%, and the prognosis is good.

4. Undifferentiated carcinoma: highly malignant, with fewer benign cases, accounting for about 8% of thyroid cancers. Most cases occur in the elderly, with an average age of over 60. The characteristic is that the mass in the front of the neck suddenly increases, and symptoms such as dyspnea, dysphagia, and hoarseness quickly appear. The treatment effect is poor and the prognosis is poor.

The above is the cure rate of various types of benign thyroid cancer. I hope it can be helpful to the majority of patients.
