What is the basis for the diagnosis of hamartoma

Everyone is familiar with hamartoma. It is a terrible and common tumor disease that seriously affects our lives. However, many people feel unwell and do not know that they have hamartoma. Many people want to know what the diagnosis of hamartoma is based on. Today, I will share with you the basis for the diagnosis of hamartoma!

Hamartomas can originate from many tissues, and are commonly found in the lungs (localized or diffuse hamartomas formed by the mixture of cartilage islands, bronchial epithelium and glands, localized hyperplasia), kidneys (angioleiomyolipomas), breasts (breast hamartomas formed by mammary lobular fat), and infant livers (mesenchymal hamartomas). Hamartoma disease should be treated with surgery as soon as possible when clinical and X-ray examinations cannot exclude malignant tumors. Even for benign hamartomas, early surgery can avoid complications such as pneumonia, atelectasis, and bronchiectasis caused by tumor enlargement, which can aggravate or complicate the condition.

The diagnosis of hamartoma is based on the following:

1. Medical history and symptoms: It is more common in adults and is generally asymptomatic. If the tumor is large and grows near or inside the bronchus, there may be irritating cough, expectoration, dyspnea caused by airway obstruction, obstructive pneumonia and other symptoms. Occasionally, there may be hemoptysis and cyanosis.

2. Physical examination findings: There are usually no positive signs, or there are localized weakening of breath sounds and wheezing. When there is inflammatory infection or obstructive atelectasis, corresponding lung signs will appear.

3. Auxiliary examinations: (1) X-ray chest examination is the main method. Chest films show single round or oval shadows with smooth edges of varying sizes, which may be lobed. Calcification or low-density shadows may sometimes be seen in the tumor. (2) CT chest scan is more helpful for diagnosis. (3) Transthoracic lung biopsy is helpful for confirming peripheral lung tumors.

Differential Diagnosis

It should be distinguished from lung cancer and other benign lung tumors.

The above is the basis for the diagnosis of hamartoma. If the above symptoms occur, you should go to a regular hospital for treatment in time and do not delay the best treatment time. We must minimize the condition.
