Each type of glioma has its own age of occurrence. The most common sites of each type of glioma are also different. For example, astrocytoma mostly occurs in the cerebral hemisphere of adults, while in children it mostly occurs in the cerebellum; glioblastoma multiforme almost always occurs in the cerebral hemisphere; ependymoma is more common in the fourth ventricle; the vast majority of oligodendrogliomas occur in the cerebral hemisphere, and medulloblastoma almost always occurs in the cerebellar vermis.
