What should patients with tongue cancer pay attention to in self-care

Many people don't know much about tongue cancer. Tongue cancer is a type of oral cancer. Patients are generally more likely to be male than female. In the hospital, doctors will tell you that in addition to actively cooperating with treatment, patients can also take care of themselves. However, most patients don't know much about what to pay attention to in self-care. Today, I will popularize the key points of self-care for tongue cancer.

1. Nutrition should be relatively balanced. According to the needs of the patient, each nutrient should be appropriate and complete. In addition to sufficient high-quality protein intake, low-fat and moderate carbohydrates should be the main source. Pay attention to supplementing vitamins, inorganic salts, cellulose, etc., which can be obtained from fresh vegetables and fruits.

2. Total calories. The total calories that patients take in from food every day should generally be no less than the minimum requirement for normal people, that is, more than 10 kilojoules per day. Because tongue cancer patients have high protein decomposition, reduced anabolism, and a negative nitrogen balance state of insufficient nutrition, the demand for protein should be increased. Generally, the daily protein intake should reach more than 1.5 grams of body weight, and should be mainly high-quality protein, such as eggs, milk, meat, soy products, etc.

3. Quit bad habits such as smoking and drinking, strengthen physical exercise, improve nutrition, eat more fresh fruits rich in vitamins and those with anti-cancer and anti-cancer effects, and eat less irritating foods.

4. If benign lesions or precancerous pathological changes are found, such as papilloma of the tongue or lichen planus, they should be removed and biopsied in time, or actively treated and observed regularly. Pay attention to oral hygiene, brush your teeth every morning and evening, and rinse your mouth after meals.

For tongue cancer patients, self-care needs to be arranged from all aspects of their lives, and patients need to take it seriously.
