Is wrist pain caused by gout?

Gout is actually a very common orthopedic disease. After suffering from gout, the patient will experience pain in some of his joints. So if you ask the question, “Is wrist pain caused by gout?” then the answer is yes. Gout can cause wrist pain. In fact, for different gout patients, the painful joints are not the same, the most common one is the knee joint.

Gout is a common and complex type of arthritis that can affect people of all ages, with a higher incidence rate in men than in women. Gout patients often experience sudden joint pain at night. The onset is acute, with severe pain, edema, redness, swelling and inflammation in the joints. The pain gradually subsides until it disappears, and can last for several days or weeks. When the pain occurs, the patient will wake up from a deep sleep in the middle of the night. Some patients describe the pain as feeling like the big toe is on fire. The most commonly affected joint is the big toe (medical term: first metatarsal), but the affected joints are not limited to this and are also commonly found in the joints of the hands, knees, elbows, etc. (see atlas). The affected joints will eventually become red, swollen and inflamed. The edema will cause the tissues to soften, limiting their mobility and ultimately affecting daily life. These symptoms will recur, so once you experience strong, sudden pain in your joints, you should see a doctor promptly for symptom management and prevention.

If not treated promptly, the consequence of delay is that the pain will become increasingly intense and unbearable. If you have a fever at this time, it means inflammation has occurred. Not only that, the joints themselves will also be damaged, the bones will be corroded, leading to joint deformation (see picture album), and the kidneys will also be damaged during the entire disease process. In severe cases, kidney stones or even kidney failure may occur, which is life-threatening.

The fundamental cause of gout is the increase in uric acid levels in the body, which causes the deposition of urate in the joints and kidneys. Generally speaking, the main causes of gout include but are not limited to: 1. Dietary reasons. After eating too much meat and seafood and drinking too much beer, the body's uric acid level increases, which may cause urate deposition; ② Obesity. The consequence of obesity is an increase in uric acid in the body, and the kidneys are unable to completely eliminate the excess uric acid; ③ Taking certain medications. These drugs can cause increased uric acid levels in the body; ④ Family history. If your family members have gout, your chances of developing the disease are greatly increased.
