What are the precautions for tongue cancer treatment

The affluence of life has made people pay more and more attention to the taste of food, and they require food to taste good, and many of them are salty and spicy. However, such a life has caused the incidence of tongue cancer to rise steadily. When they find it, they regret it and can only go for surgery. However, many people do not know what are the precautions for tongue cancer treatment. Today we will tell you about it.

1. After tongue cancer surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy should be performed, regular follow-up visits should be conducted, and high-protein, high-nutrition food should be consumed to keep the oral cavity clean.

2. Lie flat without pillow, tilt the head to the healthy side, and apply brake to the neck to prevent pulling the vascular pedicle of the pectoralis major muscle. 24 hours after surgery, the patient can sit in a semi-recumbent position, pat the back, and turn over frequently to prevent the occurrence of hypostatic pneumonia and bedsores, and keep the room temperature at 22-25℃.

3. Closely observe the changes in vital signs, especially breathing, to keep the airway open. If there is a tracheotomy, pay attention to timely suction of sputum to prevent obstruction and suffocation, do a good job of tracheal cuff care, and give α-chymotrypsin + chloramphenicol eye drops cannula q2h. Ultrasonic nebulization inhalation therapy and back patting are conducive to the expectoration of sputum, and guide patients to expectorate effectively.

4. Observe whether the drainage tube is unobstructed to prevent it from falling off, twisting, or leaking. Record the color, quality, and quantity of the drainage fluid, and report any abnormality to the doctor immediately.

5. After the wound heals, instruct the patient to perform tongue function exercises, including tongue extension, upward curling, side extension, downward thrust, and rotation 4 to 5 times a day, each time for 5 to 10 minutes. Speech training should start from simple words to complex languages.

6. Take good care of your oral cavity. Use 2% hydrogen peroxide + saline or furazolidone solution to rinse alternately twice a day, and place the irrigation tube on the healthy side to prevent the wound from bursting.

The above are some precautions in the treatment of tongue cancer. Patients and their families should pay attention and communicate with doctors in time if they have any questions.
