What causes thyroid cancer

What causes thyroid cancer? In recent years, the incidence of thyroid cancer has remained high, seriously endangering the physical and mental health of patients. The disease is more common in women and is the most common thyroid malignant tumor. Therefore, once it is discovered, it needs to be actively treated. So, what causes thyroid cancer?

Internal factors of thyroid cancer: The occurrence of thyroid cancer is related to genetic factors. Especially for medullary thyroid cancer, about 10% have a clear family history, and it is speculated that the occurrence of this type of cancer may be related to chromosomal genetic factors.

External factors of thyroid cancer: Radiation damage is a common cause of thyroid cancer. Irradiating the thyroid gland of experimental mice with X-rays can induce thyroid cancer in animals. Experiments have shown that X-rays can change the metabolism of thyroid cells, deform the cell nucleus, and greatly reduce the synthesis of thyroid hormones. It can be seen that radiation causes abnormal division of thyroid cells, leading to cancer.

Excessive or insufficient iodine intake can change the structure and function of the thyroid gland. For example, the incidence of thyroid cancer in the endemic goiter-endemic area of Switzerland is 20%, which is much higher than that in non-endemic areas such as Berlin. On the contrary, a high-iodine diet can also easily induce thyroid cancer. Iceland and Japan are countries with the highest iodine intake, and their thyroid cancer rates are higher than those in other countries. This may be related to the factor that TSH stimulates thyroid hyperplasia. Relevant experiments have shown that long-term TSH stimulation can promote thyroid hyperplasia, form nodules and cancer.

Experts explain that there are many causes of thyroid cancer, and patients must identify the cause before diagnosis and treatment, which can not only provide targeted treatment, but also achieve ideal therapeutic effects. In normal times, patients with thyroid cancer can eat more foods that strengthen the spleen and promote diuresis, such as walnuts, black beans, and other foods. In addition, they can also eat foods that enhance immunity.
