Can toothpaste cure underarm odor?

The harm caused by axillary odor to the human body is not the harm itself but the harm to the patient's psychology. Patients with axillary odor will be less confident in their daily lives and dare not interact with too many people. The claim that some folk remedies that toothpaste can cure underarm odor has no scientific basis, and there are already very good methods to treat underarm odor. Even a complete cure is not uncommon, such as surgical treatment and physical therapy, each of which has its own characteristics.

1. Surgical treatment

Principle: Use surgery to remove the skin under the armpits, or use small incisions to remove the subcutaneous sweat glands by scraping or shearing to achieve the purpose of treating axillary odor.

Advantages: high efficacy, permanent cure;

Disadvantages: surgical scars that affect appearance; skin necrosis and infection.

The surgical methods include: axillary odor fusiform resection, axillary odor fusiform resection + Z-reshaping, minimally invasive axillary odor radical surgery, small incision scraping, and small incision shearing scraping.

2. Physical therapy

Principle: Use electricity, laser, heat, microwave, ultrasound and other physical methods to destroy the subcutaneous sweat glands to achieve the purpose of treating axillary odor.

Advantages: minimally invasive, short recovery period, less pain, no obvious scars after surgery;

Disadvantages: The operation is long, can only partially cure permanently, but has a tendency to relapse.

Treatment methods include: high-frequency electroacupuncture, ultrasonic emulsification aspiration, microwave removal of axillary odor, laser treatment of axillary odor, and gold microneedle treatment of axillary odor.

3. Botulinum toxin type A injection therapy

Principle: Botulinum toxin acts on the apocrine sweat glands and inhibits their secretion. Long-term use can cause the apocrine sweat glands to atrophy and sweat secretion to decrease, thereby achieving the purpose of treating axillary odor.

Advantages: non-invasive, no toxic side effects, no downtime, simple operation;

Disadvantages: To maintain the effect, injection is required every six months; the cost of the medicine is relatively high.

4. Use of deodorant cosmetics

Principle: Deodorization is achieved by inhibiting sweat gland secretion, removing sweat and inhibiting bacteria and sterilization. In addition, the smell of underarm odor can be masked by the fragrance of cosmetics.

Advantages: easy to use, no toxic side effects.

Disadvantages: poor effect and low efficiency.

Types of cosmetics: antiperspirants, antibacterial agents, deodorants, fragrances.
