Can fibroids be passed down to children?

Will fibroids be passed on to children? Many fibroid patients do not want their future children to have the disease and are afraid that the disease will be passed on to their children, which makes many patients stop in front of marriage. So today we will take a look at whether fibroids will be passed on to children:

The onset of fibroma is related to hormone levels in the body. Some cases may be related to trauma or radiation exposure, so fibroma will not be passed on to children. Fibroma is composed of well-differentiated subcutaneous connective tissue. It is common in adults aged 40-50 years old. The tumor grows slowly and generally stops growing after it develops to a certain size. Among them, fibroma, especially desmoid tumors in the abdominal wall muscles, can become malignant and should be completely removed as soon as possible.

As macroscopic lesions, fibroids are usually well circumscribed:

1. Desmoid tumor

Most of them are round and hard, with dry cut surface, white or yellowish white, and the fiber bundles can be vaguely seen in cross section and longitudinal section when carefully observed. Desmoid tumors not only have more glial fibers, but also the nuclei of connective tissue cells are mostly spindle-shaped.

2. Soft fibroma

The cut surface is spongy, with many blood vessels and often edema. The lymph fluid contained can coagulate into a gelatinous state, with few colloid fibers and loosely arranged cells. The appearance of fibroids on the skin is round or oval, with a good shape. Ulcers and secondary infections may occur on the surface, and they appear homogeneous grayish white.

Tissue lesions: Due to the amount and density of glial fibers, the hardness of fibroids may vary:

1. Soft fibroma

Softer fibromas have more connective tissue cells and fewer connective fibers, as well as more lymph fluid and blood vessels. This type of fibroma is called a soft fibroma.

2. Desmoid tumor

If there are more fibers and fewer cells, it is called a desmoid tumor, and there are fewer cell nuclei in each field of view under the microscope. The orientation of connective tissue cells and glial microfibrils in fibroids is random, which is completely different from the definite orientation of cells and fibers in granulation tissue during wound healing.

3. Others

If the connective tissue of a fibroma is mixed with mature fat, bone, cartilage or myxoid connective tissue, and the amount is less than half of the connective tissue, they can be called lipofibroma, osteofibroma, chondrofibroma and myxofibroma respectively. However, tumors mixed with bone tissue and myxoid connective tissue often have the potential to become malignant sarcomas, so attention should be paid.
