Is laparoscopic gastrectomy for gastric cancer a complete resection? It should be determined from three aspects

Laparoscopic gastric cancer resection is generally determined based on the location of the patient's tumor, the depth of tumor invasion, and the stage. If the tumor occurs in the distal stomach, distal gastrectomy can be performed. For some gastric cancer patients, such as cardia cancer, when some gastric cancers, such as cardia cancer, invade the 5th and 6th station lymph nodes, total gastrectomy is required.

Gastric cancer is a common disease in life. When the disease is serious, the stomach needs to be removed. Resection is not just the removal of the entire stomach. There are three main surgical methods for gastric cancer resection, and total gastrectomy is just one of them. Another is laparoscopic gastrectomy. So is laparoscopic gastrectomy a total resection?
Gastric cancer is a relatively serious stomach disease. This disease is mainly caused by malignant tumors in the gastric mucosa and is one of the common malignant tumors. This disease has a great impact on patients and can even lead to death in severe cases. Now with the aging of society, the incidence of gastric cancer is gradually becoming younger and the incidence is increasing.
Gastric cancer is a common and dangerous disease. Most patients with gastric cancer have no obvious symptoms in the early stages, and only a small number of patients will experience nausea, vomiting, or symptoms similar to ulcer disease. When gastric cancer is discovered, it must be treated promptly, and surgery can be chosen during the treatment.
Gastric cancer can be treated surgically. There are two methods of gastric cancer resection under laparoscopy: distal gastrectomy, total gastrectomy, and proximal gastrectomy. For patients with severe gastric cancer, distal gastrectomy is the main method. Proximal gastrectomy includes total gastrectomy, which is difficult to suture under laparoscopy.
For patients with gastric cancer, when performing laparoscopic gastrectomy, the decision is generally based on the site of the patient's tumor, the depth of invasion of the tumor, and the stage of the tumor. If the cancer is found to be in the distal stomach under laparoscopy, distal gastrectomy can be performed, and the remaining part of the stomach will return to its previous stomach capacity after 3-6 months. If the tumor occurs proximally, that is, in the cardia or fundus, proximal gastrectomy can be performed under laparoscopy. However, some gastric cancers, such as cardia cancer, require total gastrectomy when they invade the fifth and sixth station lymph nodes.
Gastric cancer is a very serious disease, so if you find yourself experiencing stomach discomfort, you must check it out in time. For stomach diseases, try to detect and treat them early to avoid delaying treatment and affecting future health.
