What tests should be done for endometrial cancer and how to treat it

The typical symptom of endometrial cancer is irregular vaginal bleeding. For example, during childbearing years, women may experience changes in their menstrual cycles, prolonged menstruation, increased bleeding, and irregular menstruation. In this case, we should be alert and do an ultrasound to check the thickness of the endometrium. Postmenopausal bleeding is also a symptom of endometrial cancer. Normally, the endometrium will shrink and become thinner after menopause. Some women have bleeding symptoms for more than one year after menopause. At this time, we should be alert to endometrial cancer and go to the hospital for examination in time.

What tests are needed for endometrial cancer ?
The most important test for endometrial cancer is B-ultrasound, which is used to identify the cancer by checking the shape, thickness and blood flow of the endometrium. The thickness of the endometrium of postmenopausal women is below 0.4 to 0.5 cm. If the thickness exceeds this index, it is recommended to go to the hospital for a diagnostic curettage in time.
Is endometrial cancer serious?
Endometrial cancer has a relatively good prognosis among female tumor diseases because there is a thick layer of uterine muscle layer outside the endometrium.
It actually takes a long time for cancer cells to penetrate the muscle layer and metastasize to the pelvic cavity or other parts, so endometrial cancer is generally discovered early. Patients who are discovered early, such as those with stage 1 endometrial cancer, can be cured after surgery. Endometrial cancer is not a particularly serious malignant tumor and is easy to detect early. From this perspective, it is not particularly serious and has a higher cure rate than cervical cancer and ovarian cancer, but it still deserves our attention.
How to treat endometrial cancer ? Generally, when endometrial thickening is detected through B-ultrasound, a curettage will be performed, and the proliferative material will be pathologically tested to confirm that it is endometrial cancer. Treatment must first be evaluated to determine the stage of endometrial cancer and how far it has progressed. Generally, a pelvic MRI will be performed, which can determine the degree to which the endometrium has penetrated the myometrium to determine the surgical method. Most endometrial cancers are discovered in the early stages and may have slightly penetrated the myometrium. This type of stage one and stage two endometrial cancer can be treated with surgery. Surgical methods include total hysterectomy, total hysterectomy with bilateral adnexectomy, and pelvic lymph node dissection. Most patients can achieve this radical cure.
