Who should be screened for cervical cancer after being diagnosed with cervical precancerous lesions?

Not long ago, Ms. Liu accompanied a friend who had just been diagnosed with cervical cancer to the hospital for treatment. Because she and her friend were of similar age, out of panic, she asked for a cancer prevention screening of the cervix. Unexpectedly, the results revealed cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 3 (CIN3), which means that the abnormal proliferation of cells in Ms. Liu's cervix tended to be highly transformed into cancer cells. Fortunately, Ms. Liu received treatment before cervical cancer occurred to avoid cervical cancer.

Which women should be screened for cervical cancer?

First, women start having sex very early. For example, some women start having sex in their teens. At that time, her cervical epithelium is immature, and immature HPV defense is poor. The second is women with many sexual partners. If there are many female partners, the risk of HPV infection is very high. On the other hand, if a sexual partner has multiple female partners at the same time, it will cause HPV infection. As the risk increases, even if condoms can reduce the infection rate, it cannot completely prevent infection. The third is multiple childbirth or multiple abortions. Because childbirth and abortion can cause trauma to the cervical epithelium and reduce the defense against HPV.

These people are particularly careful about cervical cancer

1. People infected with human papillomavirus (HPV):

Data shows that 99.6% of cervical cancer is caused by HPV infection.

2. Multiple sexual partners:

A study in the United States showed that among new cases of cervical cancer, individuals with more than 10 sexual partners accounted for 36%, indicating that multiple sexual partners are significantly associated with cervical carcinoma in situ and cervical cancer. This is because sperm antibodies usually disappear completely after sperm enters the vagina in about 4 months. If there are many sexual partners and frequent sexual intercourse, multiple antibodies (heterosexual proteins) will be produced, making it more likely to develop cervical cancer.

3. Early marriage and multiple births:

According to the report of the Beijing Cervical Cancer Prevention and Control Cooperation Group, the incidence of cervical cancer in women who married before the age of 20 was three times that of the 21-25 age group, and seven times that of those who married after the age of 26. At the same time, the incidence of cervical cancer increased with the number of births, and the incidence of cervical cancer in women with more than 7 births was more than 10 times higher than that in women with 1-2 births.

4. Age:

The probability of women suffering from cervical cancer before 2010 is low, the incidence of cervical cancer is high in the 20-50 age group, and low in the 50-year-old group. In general, there is a trend of younger age groups in recent years. Last year, Beijing Friendship Hospital diagnosed 9 cases of cervical cancer, mainly in the 34-48 age group, of which 33.3% were under 40 years old, and 66.6% were 40-48 years old.

5. Patients with atypical cervical hyperplasia:

Especially for patients with moderate to severe conditions, if not treated actively, it may also turn into cervical cancer.

In addition, people who take oral contraceptives, smoke and have low incomes are also at high risk of cervical cancer.
