Is lung cancer contagious? Three things to know about the contagiousness of lung cancer

Lung cancer is a highly malignant disease. Among all diseases in the world, the incidence of this disease has been rising year by year, and it also shows a certain regional difference, which makes many people have great doubts about whether lung cancer is contagious. However, after decades of research, relevant medical experts have found that lung cancer is not contagious.

1. Generally speaking, in order to confirm whether a disease is contagious, it is necessary to first find out whether the disease has the same elements as infectious diseases, such as the source of infection, transmission route, and susceptible population. Only diseases that meet these three elements at the same time can be finally determined as infectious diseases. After years of clinical evidence, lung cancer patients themselves are not a source of infection, and lung cancer can only spread and metastasize within themselves.

2. Whether lung cancer is contagious or not has been raised for a long time, and many medical experts have conducted a lot of research and experiments on this issue. Among them, mice with lung cancer symptoms were placed together with other healthy mice. After a long period of time, the experimenters did not find any symptoms of lung cancer in the healthy mice, which proves that lung cancer cannot be contagious.

3. To further prove that lung cancer is not contagious, experts clearly pointed out that cancer cells will only spread and metastasize within the patient, and will not be transmitted to other people like other infectious diseases; and, for other individuals, even if cancer cells invade, they will be rejected by the individual's own strong immune system and even killed. Moreover, even if cancer cells exist in the fresh sputum spit out by the patient, they cannot survive.

After understanding the above knowledge, I believe everyone can know the fact that lung cancer is not contagious. Therefore, if there is a lung cancer patient around you, you don’t have to worry about being infected. Maintaining good habits will keep diseases away from us.
