What should you pay attention to in preventing liver cancer? 3 methods to effectively prevent liver cancer

At present, liver cancer troubles many people, affecting the health of the patient's liver and the patient's life. Everyone needs to know more about liver cancer and pay attention to the prevention of liver cancer. So what aspects should people pay attention to in their daily lives to better prevent the occurrence of liver cancer?

Prevention of liver cancer requires attention to hepatitis

Although hepatitis does not necessarily develop into liver cancer, it is an important cause of liver cancer. If hepatitis is not detected or treated early and the disease is allowed to worsen, it is likely to cause liver cancer.

The causes of primary liver cancer are very wide, with cirrhosis ranking first, followed by hepatitis B. According to statistics, the probability of untreated cirrhosis patients turning into liver cancer increases by 3% each year, and most cirrhosis evolves from hepatitis B. Clinically, about 85% of liver cancer patients have hepatitis B, especially male hepatitis B patients over 40 years old. This is mainly because of the persistent infection of hepatitis B virus, and the fibrosis caused by inflammation leads to cirrhosis and even liver cancer.

If the hepatitis B virus is difficult to eliminate, it will damage liver cells and cause inflammation. With the participation of a large number of inflammatory factors, tissues and organs will be damaged, the internal environment will change, and the chance of inflammation itself turning into cancer will be greater. Since the liver has a strong ability to repair, tissues and organs damaged by inflammation need to be repaired, and the hepatitis virus interferes with the replication of DNA in normal cells, causing liver cells to become malignant, and eventually in the process of proliferation, it may grow into a tumor. In addition, long-term chronic inflammation will cause the proliferation of liver fibrous tissue, and the massive proliferation of fibrous tissue will lead to cirrhosis and damage liver function.

Generally speaking, there are three steps from hepatitis to liver cancer. The first is the onset of hepatitis, the second is long-term hepatitis leading to cirrhosis, and the third, or final, is tumor formation, leading to liver cancer. Therefore, in order to prevent the onset of liver cancer, the importance of hepatitis treatment is self-evident. Once hepatitis occurs, it should not be delayed. After recovery, attention should be paid to maintenance and care to prevent recurrence.

Liver cancer prevention methods

In addition to the prevention and treatment of hepatitis mentioned above, what other key points do we need to pay attention to in our daily lives?

1. Improve drinking water

In rural areas with a high incidence of liver cancer, a variety of measures are taken in conjunction with health campaigns to improve the drinking water environment, switching from drinking ditch and pond water to well water, deep well water, and rainwater, or setting up small water plants. Cities use unpolluted water sources as tap water sources and prevent environmental pollution.

2. Regular inspection

If someone in the family has liver cancer or other types of tumors, other family members should pay special attention. In addition to the cancer prevention measures mentioned above (preventing hepatitis, not eating moldy food, etc.), you should also develop a good habit of regular physical examinations. It is recommended that men over 40 years old or women over 50 years old, people who drink alcohol for a long time, and diabetic patients go to the hospital for a physical examination every year.

3. Stay away from tobacco and alcohol

To prevent the occurrence of liver cancer, we must also pay attention to proper control of drinking and smoking. Everyone should know that the main function of the liver is to break down alcohol. Excessive drinking will not only increase the burden on the liver, but may even affect the normal function of the liver, and it is possible to cause liver cancer.
