Many people have experienced the situation of dreaming too much. The so-called dreaming too much actually means dreaming for a long time during sleep. After waking up, you will feel dizzy and tired. Generally, dreaming too much and insomnia appear at the same time, causing people to be in low spirits during the day. This situation is closely related to the patient's emotions, such as mental tension and excessive excitement, etc. So, does dreaming too much belong to insomnia? First, does having many dreams mean you have insomnia? Dreaming is not necessarily pathological. Dreams are a spontaneous and normal psychological activity that occurs in a certain stage of consciousness during sleep. Some researchers have also found that dreaming can exercise the brain's thinking ability. Here I would like to introduce two concepts to you, namely, two states of sleep: one is non-rapid eye movement sleep, also called normal sleep. In this stage, there is no rapid eye movement; the other state is called rapid eye movement sleep, also called paradoxical sleep. In this stage, a notable feature is the occurrence of rapid eye movement during sleep. Among them, paradoxical sleep is also called dream sleep, while normal sleep is dreamless sleep. Dream sleep and dreamless sleep together constitute the entire sleep process. Second, the reason for dreaming a lot: due to the restriction of REM sleep time, the number of dreams is quite constant. According to research, the normal person dreams 4-6 times per night, which adds up to about 2 hours. After waking up from REM sleep, people can often recall their dreams. The human body's recall of dreams varies according to individual personality, emotional state, and other differences. For example, introverts tend to focus more on their own internal feelings, have shallow sleep, are easily awakened, and can recall vivid dreams; while depressed and anxious people are easily awakened from their dreams, and feel that they have had too many dreams when they wake up. Excessive mental tension, excitement, depression, fear, anxiety, as well as excessive pressure from life and work often cause frequent dreams and poor sleep quality. Does dreaming too much constitute insomnia? Although dreaming is a normal psychological activity, if we have poor sleep quality during sleep, such as dreaming all night or waking up easily due to many dreams, and it causes daytime lack of energy, dizziness, and poor memory, then it is a sleep disorder. In medicine, we call this sleep disorder dreaminess. |
