What is the best way to prevent bladder cancer? Is bladder cancer related to race?

In the United States, the incidence of bladder cancer in Caucasians is twice that of African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanics, and Native Americans. Among them, Alaska Natives have the lowest incidence.

So how can we prevent bladder cancer in our daily lives?

1. Adhere to scientific eating habits

Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits. Fresh vegetables and fruits are rich in vitamins and trace elements, which can decompose carcinogenic substances in the body - nitrosamines. Eat less meat as much as possible, because meat can produce substances with similar structures to aniline and benzidine during metabolism in the body. A survey found that workers in factories using aniline and benzidine chemical raw materials are more likely to suffer from bladder cancer.

2. Those who have the smoking habit should quit smoking as soon as possible

Studies have shown that cigarettes contain nicotine, tar, tobacco-specific substituents and other toxic carcinogens. Heavy smokers have higher concentrations of carcinogens in their urine. If the daily smoking index reaches 600 (number of cigarettes smoked per day x number of years of smoking), it is dangerous to develop bladder cancer.

3. Increase your water intake

Because the amount of water you drink directly affects the concentration of urine in the bladder, it has an important impact on the occurrence of bladder cancer. People who drink less water must have less urine in their bladders, and after carcinogens are excreted from the kidneys to the bladder, the concentration in the urine is also correspondingly higher. These high concentrations of carcinogens will cause strong irritation to the bladder mucosa. At the same time, people who drink less water will inevitably have longer intervals between urinations, which creates favorable conditions for the reproduction of bacteria (such as E. coli) in the bladder. Most people who often develop bladder cancer are those who do not like to drink water or tea. Therefore, in order to prevent the occurrence of bladder cancer, you should drink enough water to dilute the urine and excrete it in time. In this way, the bacteria and carcinogens in the urine will be relatively reduced, which can reduce the irritation and damage to the bladder mucosa and play a role in preventing bladder cancer.
