What are the ways to prevent prostate cancer? Five measures to help you prevent prostate cancer

Prostate cancer is becoming a common disease, and how to prevent it has become a topic of concern. Let's take a look at the methods to prevent prostate cancer.

Prostate cancer is a common disease among middle-aged and elderly people. It brings great inconvenience to patients' lives and work. It can cause frequent urination, painful urination and other hazards, and even threaten the patient's life and health. So what are the measures to prevent prostate cancer?

Prostate cancer prevention measures

1. Avoid compressing the prostate

Do not sit still for a long time, take a proper rest and change your body position in time to avoid local congestion of the prostate. Drink more water and urinate more often. Urinating can flush the urethra, help the prostate discharge excess secretions, and prevent prostate infection.

2. Eat more beans and vegetables in your daily life

Eat less spicy and irritating food, eat more light, easily digestible food, eat more fresh vegetables, quit smoking and drinking, and keep bowel movements smooth. For example, vegetables such as cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, etc. also have the effect of preventing and treating prostate cancer. In addition, you can also eat flax seeds and tomatoes. Tomatoes contain lycopene, which is effective in preventing and treating prostate cancer.

3. Drink green tea every day

It plays a great role in preventing and treating prostate diseases. As the frequency of tea drinking increases, the effect of green tea becomes more obvious. Western men usually drink alcohol before and after meals, which can easily cause prostate congestion.

4. Keep a good mood and pay attention to personal hygiene

It is important to get enough sleep, have a moderate sex life, and maintain an optimistic attitude. Adhere to hot water baths and try not to wear jeans or tight pants. Exercise properly. Proper physical exercise can enhance the body's immunity and disease resistance. Regular exercise of the abdomen, thighs and buttocks can massage the prostate, improve blood circulation and lymphatic circulation, help enhance internal resistance, and reduce the incidence of prostate cancer.

5. Smoke and drink less

Tobacco and alcohol are the causes of many diseases. Male compatriots must remember to try not to smoke or drink.

Five common tests for prostate cancer

1. Rectal examination

Through rectal examination, hard nodules can be found on the surface of the prostate. The nodules can be small or large, uneven, and fixed. However, in early prostate cancer, rectal examination may be normal and there will be no nodules.

2. Ultrasound, CT or MRI

These tests are generally used to distinguish early and late stages of prostate cancer in patients who have been diagnosed, and to check whether there is lymph node metastasis around the prostate. However, these tests cannot be used alone to confirm the diagnosis. Prostate puncture biopsy is still required for confirmation. In order to more accurately distinguish the early and late stages of prostate cancer, CT or MRI examinations must be performed before prostate puncture biopsy. Otherwise, due to changes in the prostate after prostate puncture, the staging of prostate cancer will be incorrect. Therefore, the purpose of CT and MRI examinations before prostate puncture biopsy is not for diagnosis.

3. Prostate-specific antigen (pSA)

Prostate-specific antigen is a substance secreted specifically by the prostate, and its concentration can be detected in male blood. The measured value of pSA is higher in patients with prostate cancer. Some patients with early prostate cancer have normal rectal examination, but the pSA value is higher than normal, so pSA can be used for prostate cancer screening. However, many factors can affect the pSA value, such as rectal examination, long-interval cycling, prostate volume, cystoscopy, prostate surgery, acute urinary retention, etc. Therefore, it is recommended that men over 40 years old should check pSA once a year, and avoid the above factors before blood drawing. If the pSA is higher than the normal value, further examination or prostate biopsy should be performed to detect prostate cancer at an early stage.

4. Whole body radionuclide bone scan

Bladder cysts and bladder tumors. Since bone metastasis is common in prostate cancer, this examination can show bone metastasis lesions at an early stage.

5. Prostate biopsy under transrectal ultrasound guidance

For those with prostate nodules and significantly elevated pSA values, multiple punctures can be performed through the rectum or perineum under the guidance of rectal B-ultrasound to obtain living tissue, and then a pathological examination can be performed to confirm the diagnosis. This examination method is currently the only way to diagnose prostate cancer. Currently, punctures are performed at more than 10 points according to the volume of the prostate and the divisions on the ultrasound image. Due to the different volumes of the prostate and the irregular morphology of the prostate, multiple punctures will be performed, but sometimes the cancer lesions are small, and the tissue of the cancer lesions may not be obtained in one puncture, and no tumor cells were found in the pathological diagnosis. Therefore, elderly men with benign pathology after the first prostate puncture biopsy should also have their pSA tested regularly.
