What is the reason why the elderly suddenly fall down while walking

It is common for an elderly person to suddenly fall down while walking. This is mainly because the elderly are prone to stroke or cerebrovascular disease, which can cause an unconscious disorder. Of course, it may also be due to an accidental fall or an epileptic seizure.

1. Common causes of falls among the elderly:

1. Stroke: due to sudden rupture and bleeding of cerebral blood vessels, coma, hemiplegia, etc. often occur;

2. Caused by dizziness, nausea, cerebrovascular disease, cervical spondylosis, etc., generally without consciousness disorder;

3. Syncope: temporary loss of consciousness due to severe hypoxia and ischemia of the brain;

4. Acute attack of angina pectoris;

5. Accidental falls, fractures, and epileptic seizures, etc.

2. If a sudden fall is caused by the above reasons, do not rush to help, otherwise you may end up making things worse.

1. If a person who has suffered a stroke is helped up immediately, it will only aggravate the bleeding symptoms;

2. For patients who faint due to insufficient blood supply to the brain, the patient should lie flat. Helping him up will only aggravate the cerebral ischemia.

3. If a fracture or dislocation occurs, providing support will aggravate the injury or even cause paralysis. Therefore, when others see an elderly person fall, they should first observe the elderly person's expression and demeanor. If the elderly person is conscious, they should first ask the reason for the fall and then provide appropriate help.

4. If the patient is angina pectoris, he should take emergency medicine and then be sent to the hospital; if the patient is unconscious or has speech disorders, call the emergency number immediately; for patients who are vomiting, their head should be turned to one side to prevent vomitus from entering the respiratory tract and causing suffocation. When moving a patient, one person should support the head and chest, one person should support the waist and buttocks, and one person should support the legs and feet. The movements should be slow and steady.
