How to diagnose prostate cancer clinically

Clinical diagnosis of prostate cancer requires consideration of the following aspects:

1. Patient symptoms: Early prostate cancer has no specific symptoms and is usually accompanied by symptoms of prostate hyperplasia, mainly frequent urination, urgency, and difficulty urinating;

2. Physical examination, mainly transanal prostate examination, to detect whether the prostate has become hardened or has obvious nodular hyperplasia;

3. Prostate tumor index examination. The most commonly used in clinical practice is prostate-specific antigen, or PSA. Its normal range is 0-4ng/mL. If it exceeds the normal range, you need to be alert to the possibility of tumor;

4. Imaging examinations, including B-ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging, can detect whether there are prostate nodules or masses, especially masses in the peripheral zone, which will increase the possibility of tumors.

If the above four aspects are combined, a prostate biopsy is necessary if there is a possibility of a prostate tumor. Currently, in addition to surgery, prostate biopsy is the only gold standard for clinically diagnosing prostate cancer. Only by obtaining prostate tissue through puncture and discovering cancer cells through histopathological diagnosis can a diagnosis be confirmed.
