What to do if thyroid cancer causes palpitations

Thyroid cancer is a common endocrine tumor in clinical practice, which can be caused by factors such as heredity and radiation. When thyroid cancer patients develop to the late stage, the tumor often compresses the trachea or esophagus, causing symptoms such as palpitations and dyspnea. At this time, patients should receive drug treatment, surgical treatment and other treatments under the guidance of professional doctors.

1. Drug treatment: For patients with mild palpitations, beta-blockers such as metoprolol succinate sustained-release tablets or non-selective beta-blockers such as propranolol hydrochloride tablets can be used as prescribed by the doctor to help relieve palpitations.

2. Surgical treatment: such as primary lesion resection, lymph node dissection, etc. After the primary lesion is removed, the palpitations caused by thyroid cancer can be relieved. If lymph node dissection is performed, when the surgical scope is large and lymph node metastasis occurs, lymph node dissection is also required;

3. Other treatments: such as radioactive iodine-131 therapy, which uses the beta rays released by iodine-131 to destroy the thyroid follicular epithelial cells, shrinking the thyroid gland without affecting adjacent tissues. Radioactive iodine-131 therapy can shrink tumors, reduce the recurrence rate of thyroid cancer, and thus relieve the symptoms of palpitations caused by thyroid cancer.

In addition to the above treatments, thyroid cancer patients can also relieve palpitations in other ways, such as improving their lifestyle, staying up late less, keeping a happy mood, and avoiding negative emotions such as tension and anxiety. The daily diet should also be light and nutritious, and spicy, stimulating, and greasy foods should be avoided to avoid aggravating the condition.
