What are the characteristics of recurrence of cervical cancer after treatment

Cervical cancer is one of the more common gynecological malignancies, and it may recur after appropriate treatment. Usually, after surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other comprehensive treatments, cervical cancer does not necessarily recur, but there is a certain probability. If the patient has a poor physical condition or a serious condition, recurrence may occur.

1. Abnormal vaginal bleeding: The normal menstrual cycle of women is 21-35 days, with an average of 28 days. The menstrual period is generally 2-7 days, and the amount of blood is moderate. If the patient's menstrual cycle or menstrual period changes or is accompanied by a lot of secretions, it is necessary to consider whether there is a recurrence, such as early menstruation, prolonged menstruation, increased bleeding, and continuous bleeding. In addition, some patients will also show symptoms such as a small amount of vaginal bleeding during non-menstrual periods and dark color. These symptoms may be caused by the recurrence of cervical cancer. It is recommended to seek medical attention in time for a clear diagnosis.

2. Abnormal leucorrhea: Normal leucorrhea is white and thin, without odor. If the patient finds that the characteristics of her leucorrhea are different from before, such as the color of the leucorrhea changes, there is a distinct odor, or there is purulent leucorrhea, she should also be alert to the possibility of cervical cancer recurrence.

3. Lump: If the patient feels a lump in the lower abdomen after treatment, it should be taken seriously as it may indicate a recurrence of cervical cancer.

4. Other manifestations: In addition to the common symptoms mentioned above, fever, weight loss, anemia, fatigue, night sweats, loss of appetite, edema, joint pain, skin itching and other symptoms may also occur, which may also indicate the recurrence of cervical cancer.

The above are only some typical symptoms. In fact, the clinical manifestations of cervical cancer recurrence vary. Therefore, it is necessary to combine medical history, physical signs and auxiliary examination results to confirm the diagnosis. Once you suspect that you may have cervical cancer recurrence, you should go to the hospital in time, complete relevant examinations and actively receive treatment. For cervical cancer, the earlier it is discovered and the earlier it is treated, the better the effect. Especially after radiotherapy, it is more likely to recur, so regular check-ups are necessary.
