Manicure causes onychomycosis

Manicure causes onychomycosis

Nowadays, many girls who love beauty often do nail care, because they think that this can not only make the nails beautiful, but also make our overall image look greatly improved. Girls are always discussing what type of manicure is the best looking. And everyone should not forget that frequent manicures are not good for nails.

Myth 1: Thinking that nail art has nothing to do with onychomycosis

Girls who love beauty should pay attention, manicure is very likely to cause onychomycosis. You should know that the chemicals used in manicures will cause your nail tissue to be constantly corroded by foreign matter, causing the nail surface to become increasingly fragile. If mold takes advantage of the weakening of the nails, onychomycosis will occur. In addition, frequently painting your nails or using nail polish remover may cause your nails to deform, deteriorate, and inflame the nail bed, eventually leading to onychomycosis.

Myth 2: Thinking that onychomycosis is just unsightly and can be left untreated

This is the most wrong point. Onychomycosis is actually a contagious disease. It can not only be transmitted to family and friends, but can also cause athlete's foot. At the same time, onychomycosis can make people feel extremely unhygienic and cause social embarrassment. For example, people with onychomycosis generally dare not shake hands with others, and onychomycosis patients cannot engage in certain jobs that require beautiful hands.

Myth #3: Believing that athlete’s foot is contagious, but onychomycosis is not

Studies have shown that the fungal species that cause onychomycosis are of the same nature as athlete's foot. For example, if the whole family uses items that are shared on a daily basis, there is a possibility that the onychomycosis fungus will be transmitted to family members, causing the disease. It is worth noting that if the socks of all family members are mixed together when washing, or if they wear shared slippers, use shared bath towels, etc., there is a possibility of mutual infection.

Misconception No. 4: Do you think that topical medications can easily solve the problem and oral antibiotics that damage the liver are best avoided?

This idea is wrong. Experts say that current antifungal drugs have little effect on liver function and can be used under the guidance of a doctor as long as the patient has normal liver function. But to be on the safe side, patients should also undergo liver function tests regularly. Topical medications can play a certain role in preventing the recurrence of onychomycosis or consolidating later treatment, but very few patients can be completely cured of onychomycosis by topical medications alone.

Myth #5: Thinking that removing the nail will cure the condition

Patients need to understand that onychomycosis is mostly caused by fungal infection. Pulling out the nails only removes the fungus on the nails, but the fungus on the nail bed is not killed. In addition, there are still many fungal spores in a dormant period, and when they grow out, they will still become onychomycosis.
