Does non-keratinizing nasopharyngeal carcinoma cause tinnitus? What other symptoms are there?

Does non-keratinizing nasopharyngeal carcinoma cause tinnitus? What are the symptoms?

1. Currently, the World Health Organization mainly uses the WHO keratinizing squamous cell carcinoma and non-keratinizing carcinoma for the clinical classification of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

2. Keratinizing nasopharyngeal carcinoma is rare in clinical practice, accounting for about 5% to 10% of the total number of nasopharyngeal carcinomas, and mostly occurs in older people. This type of cancer has a low degree of malignancy and distant metastasis is relatively rare, but it is not very sensitive to radiotherapy.

3. Non-keratinizing nasopharyngeal carcinoma accounts for more than 95% of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Non-keratinizing nasopharyngeal carcinoma can cause serious symptoms such as tinnitus, hearing loss, and dizziness. Non-keratinizing nasopharyngeal carcinoma has a great impact on the body. Non-keratinizing nasopharyngeal carcinoma is relatively closely related to the EBV virus that is sensitive to radiotherapy. According to the degree of differentiation of tumor cells, non-keratinizing nasopharyngeal carcinoma can also be divided into differentiated and undifferentiated types, that is, differentiated non-keratinizing and undifferentiated.

4. Tinnitus, hearing loss and ear blockage. Nasopharyngeal cancer occurs in the lateral wall of the nasopharynx. When the lateral fossa or the Eustachian tube opens the upper lip, the tumor compresses the Eustachian tube, which may cause unilateral tinnitus or hearing loss, and catarrhal otitis media. Unilateral tinnitus or hearing loss and ear blockage are one of the symptoms of early nasopharyngeal cancer. If tinnitus is found, it is best to seek medical attention in time.

5. Radiotherapy has always been the first choice for the treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The reason is that most nasopharyngeal carcinomas are poorly differentiated cancers with high sensitivity to radiation, and the primary lesions and cervical lymphatic drainage areas are easily included in the radiation site. In addition to cooperating with treatment, patients with non-keratinizing nasopharyngeal carcinoma should also pay special attention to weather changes, prevent colds, take care of the nasopharynx frequently, and prevent viral infections; try to avoid contact with kerosene, quit smoking and drinking in daily life, and speed up the recovery of patients with non-keratinizing nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
