Sometimes, we also have some symptoms similar to nasopharyngeal cancer, which often makes us panic. So, when you suspect nasopharyngeal cancer, what tests should you do? Now, let me introduce it to you. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma refers to a malignant tumor that occurs on the top and side walls of the nasopharyngeal cavity. It is one of the most common malignant tumors in my country, and its incidence rate ranks first among malignant tumors of the ear, nose and throat. Common clinical symptoms include nasal congestion, blood in mucus, stuffy ears, hearing loss, diplopia and headache. Most nasopharyngeal carcinomas are moderately sensitive to radiotherapy, and radiotherapy is the first choice for nasopharyngeal carcinoma. However, for highly differentiated cancers, advanced disease courses and recurrence after radiotherapy, surgical resection and chemotherapy are also indispensable means. If you suspect nasopharyngeal cancer, you should do the following tests: 1. Cervical lymph node biopsy can only be performed when repeated nasopharyngeal biopsy is pathologically negative or no lesions are found under nasopharyngeal endoscopy. Cervical lymph node biopsy is best performed with a single-line excisional biopsy, which is estimated to be completely resected. A small specimen should not be removed or repeated puncture biopsies should not be performed on metastatic lymph nodes. It has been reported that cervical lymph node excision or puncture biopsy increases the rate of distant metastasis by up to 20%, significantly affecting prognosis. 2. Pathological examination of tumor biopsy is the diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Other clinical examinations cannot replace qualitative means. Whether it is the first diagnosis or recurrence after treatment, pathological proof must be obtained before treatment. 3. The nasopharynx is the first choice for biopsy materials for masses in the nasopharynx and neck. Because nasopharyngeal biopsy is convenient and quick, with little damage and little impact on prognosis, it can be repeated if the biopsy is negative. Through the above introduction, I believe everyone has a certain understanding. If you suspect that you have nasopharyngeal cancer, you should go to the hospital as soon as possible. If you really find that you have nasopharyngeal cancer, you should receive timely treatment. |
