Gallbladder polyps may cause pain when breathing and are usually related to inflammation of the gallbladder or pressure from the polyps on surrounding tissue. Treatments include medications, surgery, and lifestyle changes. 1. Causes of gallbladder polyps Gallbladder polyps are a common gallbladder disease that may be related to genetics, environmental factors, physiological factors, trauma or pathological changes. Genetic factors may cause abnormal proliferation of gallbladder wall cells, forming polyps. Environmental factors such as high-fat diet, long-term drinking or smoking may increase the risk of disease. Physiological factors such as cholestasis or abnormal gallbladder function may also induce polyps. Trauma or gallbladder inflammation may further stimulate the growth of polyps, and in severe cases may develop into gallbladder cancer. 2. Causes of breathing pain The gallbladder is located in the right upper abdomen, close to the diaphragm and lungs. When gallbladder polyps become inflamed or increase in size, they may compress surrounding tissues and irritate the phrenic nerve, causing pain when breathing. Gallbladder inflammation may spread to surrounding organs, causing referred pain, which manifests as breathing discomfort. 3. Treatment methods 1. Drug treatment: For smaller polyps or mild inflammation, drugs can be used to control symptoms. Commonly used drugs include anti-inflammatory and choleretic tablets, ursodeoxycholic acid tablets, and antibiotics. Anti-inflammatory and choleretic tablets help relieve gallbladder inflammation, ursodeoxycholic acid tablets can dissolve cholesterol polyps, and antibiotics are used to treat bacterial infections. 2. Surgical treatment: For polyps with a diameter of more than 1 cm or with obvious symptoms, surgical resection is recommended. Common surgical methods include laparoscopic cholecystectomy, open cholecystectomy and endoscopic minimally invasive surgery. Laparoscopic surgery is the preferred method because it is less invasive and has a quick recovery. 3. Lifestyle adjustment: Avoid high-fat and high-cholesterol foods, such as fried foods and animal offal, and eat more fiber-rich foods, such as vegetables, fruits and whole grains. Moderate exercise can help promote bile excretion and reduce the burden on the gallbladder. Breathing pain caused by gallbladder polyps requires prompt medical attention, and targeted treatment should be taken after the cause is identified. Medication, surgery, and lifestyle adjustments can effectively relieve symptoms and prevent the disease from worsening. Regular physical examinations and health management are the key to preventing gallbladder polyps. |
