Dermatofibroma is a common benign skin tumor that usually does not cause serious harm to health, but may affect appearance or cause discomfort. Treatment includes observation, medication or surgical excision. Dermatofibroma is mainly caused by abnormal proliferation of skin fibroblasts. It is common on the limbs and appears as a raised nodule on the skin surface. The color is mostly brown or skin color, and the diameter is usually less than 1 cm. Although most dermatofibromas will not become malignant, some patients may feel pain or itching due to friction or pressure. In rare cases, repeated stimulation may lead to local infection or inflammation. 1. The cause of skin fibroma may be related to genetics, trauma or chronic skin irritation. Genetic factors may increase an individual's susceptibility to skin fibroma, while trauma or chronic friction such as clothing friction may induce local fibroblast proliferation and form fibroma. Certain skin diseases or immune system abnormalities may also increase the risk of disease. 2. The diagnosis of cutaneous fibroma can usually be confirmed by clinical examination and dermoscopy. If necessary, a pathological biopsy can be performed to exclude other skin lesions. For asymptomatic cutaneous fibroma, no special treatment is usually required and regular observation is sufficient. If the fibroma causes discomfort or affects the appearance, local injection of glucocorticoids such as triamcinolone acetonide to shrink the tumor, or non-surgical methods such as cryotherapy and laser treatment can be considered. 3. Surgery is a radical cure for dermatofibroma and is suitable for cases with large tumors, repeated infections or suspected malignant transformation. Surgical methods include traditional excision, minimally invasive excision or electrosurgical resection. After surgery, attention should be paid to wound care to avoid infection. For recurrent dermatofibroma, the cause can be determined in combination with pathological examination, and further treatment can be performed if necessary. Although most cutaneous fibromas are benign, patients still need to pay attention to their changes and seek medical attention in a timely manner to rule out malignant lesions or relieve discomfort. Choosing appropriate treatment methods can help improve the quality of life. |
