Ginseng fruit planting

Ginseng fruit planting

I believe that people who have read Journey to the West know about the ginseng fruit. In the novel, ginseng fruit can prolong people's lifespan. Although in real life, the effect of ginseng fruit is not so magical, it can prolong people's lifespan. It is also a good product for patients with hypertension and diabetes. Therefore, many people now want to get rich by planting ginseng fruit.

In fact, ginseng fruit planting is very particular. Only with careful care can ginseng fruit grow healthily. If you want to know about ginseng fruit planting, you can refer to this article, because the following is the planting experience summarized by many ginseng fruit growers, I believe it can help you!

Selection of planting sites

Generally, you should choose a plot with plenty of sunlight, fertile sandy soil, and convenient water drainage and irrigation. It is also very good to plant in mountainous areas with few pathogens.

Bed preparation and planting specifications

The width of the single-row bed is 60 cm, the double-row bed is 100 cm, the plant spacing is 40 cm, the holes are dug finely, and about 1,500 plants are planted per mu. It is best to sprinkle some disease and insecticides in the holes before applying base fertilizer.

Fertilization method

First, apply rotted pig and chicken manure or fermented vegetable cake fertilizer and mix well with soil in the hole as base fertilizer; on the day after planting, human feces or pig urine fertilizer should be applied to promote early and rapid growth. In the following 7 days, apply human feces and urine water fertilizer, and add 150 grams of ammonium carbon in each urine bucket; after flowering and fruiting, apply 50 kilograms of compound fertilizer per mu once a month to strengthen the stems and protect the flowers and fruits.

Seedling raising method

That is, mix an appropriate amount of base fertilizer into the plot of land or wooden box where you plan to raise seedlings, water the fertilizer thoroughly, and then sow tiny seeds one by one in the soil with a distance of 7-10 cm between seeds. Cover with wet fine sand. When the bed surface is dry, spray it with a sprayer to prevent the seeds from being pushed away. The seedlings will be fully grown in 7-15 days. If there are insect pests, use dichlorvos or cypermethrin to kill the insects. Transplant the seedlings when they grow to 10 cm.

Shaping and pruning

The "Ginseng Fruit" has a very strong branching and germination ability. For each plant, 3-4 branches between 10 and 20 centimeters are left as fruiting branches, and the rest of the branches are all cut off for seedling cultivation or as livestock and poultry feed. After flowering and fruiting, only 1-2 fruits can be left in each bunch of flowers and fruits, so that the fruits are large, of good quality, and sell at a high price.

Build a trellis to protect the fruit

After the fruits are borne, the branches cannot bear the weight of the fruits, so they must be grafted with 60-100 cm long bamboo strips and the fruits must be tied securely to prevent losses caused by broken branches and rotten fruits.

Seed saving and reproduction

The fruits produced during the high temperature period have no seeds, while the fruits produced during the suitable temperature period have a small number of seeds. The weight of 1,000 seeds is about 1 gram, and the germination rate is low. Only fine sowing and heavy tube seedlings can produce many seeds. If you are growing seedlings through cuttings, you should choose disease-free and healthy branches to cut. Then, insert each section 10-12 cm long into the soil 3-5 cm deep. After inserting, strengthen water and fertilizer management and disease and insect control. Generally, they can be transplanted or sold after 25 days.

Pruning

Ginseng fruit has strong germination ability, so it is necessary to prune and trim branches in time. From the part 15 to 20 cm above the plant, select 3 to 5 strong and evenly distributed branches as the main branches, and cut off the rest. Leave 2 to 3 inflorescences on each side branch, and 2 to 3 fruits on each inflorescence, and remove all other inflorescences and small fruits. Each plant only produces 30 fruits at most. Because the stem of ginseng fruit is relatively soft, it is necessary to use bamboo poles or plastic ropes to build a frame when it starts to bear fruit to prevent it from falling over.

Pest and disease control

The main diseases of ginseng fruit are Phytophthora and Botrytis cinerea. For each mu, 110-150 grams of Benomyl diluted with 400-800 times water, 600-800 times diluted Botrytis cinerea, 1000 times diluted carbendazim and thiophanate-methyl can be used. The main insect pests are aphids and red spiders, which can be used alternately with 1500 times diluted trichloronate, 1500 times diluted pyridazinone and methotrexate. It should be noted that ginseng fruit is very sensitive to omethoate or dichlorvos and its use should be prohibited.

Harvest at the right time

The fruit can be harvested when clear purple stripes appear on the surface, or when there are no stripes but the fruit has a shiny and smooth skin. If it needs to be stored, it can be harvested when it is 70% to 80% ripe. The storage period at room temperature is 40 to 60 days. The fruit can be available in the off-season for fruits and vegetables from New Year's Day to around the Spring Festival.

The cultivation of ginseng fruit is very complicated, because it requires careful care. Therefore, those who want to grow ginseng fruit are advised to understand the precautions for planting before planting, and also consult professionals, so that they can grow good ginseng fruit and sell their own fruits at a good price.
