5 types of wounds that should not be treated with Band-Aids

Band-Aid, as the name suggests, is a band-aid that can be applied to wounds. It is a commonly used surgical medicine in our daily lives. However, many citizens do not understand the correct way to use Band-Aids and think that they can use Band-Aids on any wound. In fact, this is not the case. Band-Aids are not suitable for the following types of wounds.

Don’t use Band-Aids on 5 types of wounds:

Small and deep wounds cannot be treated with adhesive tape.

Since Band-Aids have poor water absorption and air permeability, they are not conducive to the discharge of secretions and pus in the wound, making it easy for bacteria to grow and multiply, causing or aggravating infection. In particular, it is more susceptible to infection with anaerobic bacteria such as tetanus bacteria.

Animal bite wounds cannot be patched

For wounds caused by animals such as dog bites, cat scratches, snake bites, and poisonous insect stings or bites, do not use Band-Aids to prevent the accumulation or spread of venom and germs in the wound. As soon as possible, the wound should be rinsed repeatedly for more than 15 minutes with clean water, cold tea, mineral water, saline, 2% soapy water, or even urine.

Various skin boils cannot be pasted

Because Band-Aids have poor water absorption and air permeability, they are not conducive to the absorption and drainage of pus, but are conducive to the growth and reproduction of bacteria.

Severely contaminated wounds cannot be treated with this patch

Do not use Band-Aids to cover contaminated, infected wounds, burns, scalds, or large skin abrasions, otherwise it will cause or aggravate the infection.

Minor abrasions on the epidermis do not require patching

If it is just a minor abrasion on the surface, there is no need to use a Band-Aid. Just apply iodine or alcohol to prevent infection.
