Is it harmful if formaldehyde exceeds the standard by 3 times?

Formaldehyde is a name that people have long been familiar with, and the harm of formaldehyde is also well known to everyone. The decoration materials we use in daily decoration contain formaldehyde. Therefore, after the house is decorated, it is necessary to ventilate it and place some plants that can remove formaldehyde in the room. When formaldehyde exceeds the standard, it will affect people's skin, respiratory tract, eyes, and resistance.

Hazard 1

When its concentration reaches 0.08-0.09 mg/m3 per cubic meter of air, children will experience mild asthma. When the indoor air concentration reaches 0.1mg/m3, there will be odor and discomfort; when it reaches 0.5mg/m3, it may irritate the eyes and cause tears; when it reaches 0.6mg/m3, it may cause throat discomfort or pain. Higher concentrations can cause nausea and vomiting, coughing, chest tightness, asthma and even pulmonary edema; when the concentration reaches 30 mg/m3, it can cause immediate death.

Hazard 2

The hazards of long-term exposure to low doses of formaldehyde include: causing chronic respiratory diseases, nasopharyngeal cancer, colon cancer, brain tumors, menstrual disorders, gene mutations in the cell nucleus, cross-linking within the single strand of DNA and between DNA and protein, inhibition of DNA damage repair, pregnancy syndrome, causing chromosomal abnormalities and leukemia in newborns, and causing memory and intellectual decline in adolescents.

Hazard Three

Formaldehyde gas can cause death and this is the best preventive measure while using gas. Please read the following lines carefully to know the different signs and symptoms of formaldehyde poisoning and how to treat it.

Hazard 4

Inhalation of formaldehyde can cause irritation of the nose, eyes and throat, headaches, and skin damage. When swallowed, formaldehyde can cause a burning sensation in the stomach and esophagus. A person can develop breathing problems such as asthma, bronchitis and pneumonia when exposed to formaldehyde fumes for a longer period of time. People who already have asthma are likely to have frequent and severe attacks. Because formaldehyde is a carcinogen, frequent exposure to or inhalation of formaldehyde gas can increase the risk of lung cancer and brain cancer.

Hazard 5

Children have a weakened immune system and they can develop complications when exposed to formaldehyde.

Hazard 6

Other common symptoms include chest tightness, nausea, skin, rash, asthma, etc. In severe cases, formaldehyde can cause coma or even death when ingested.

Hazard 7

Formaldehyde is a highly toxic substance and ranks second on my country's priority control list of toxic chemicals. It has been identified by the World Health Organization as a carcinogen and teratogen, is a recognized source of allergies, and is also one of the potential strong mutagens.

Studies have shown that formaldehyde has strong carcinogenic and cancer-promoting effects. A large number of documents record that formaldehyde poisoning mainly manifests aspects such as abnormal sense of smell, irritation, allergy, abnormal lung function, abnormal liver function and abnormal immune function on human health.
