Prevention of dental caries

Prevention of dental caries

Nowadays, more and more people are suffering from tooth decay, which has become another hidden disease of mankind. We often see dentists in hospitals as the busiest ones. Since teeth are used every day, more people ignore the importance of their health. Some children like to drink yogurt and carbonated drinks since childhood, but they cannot protect their teeth, so tooth decay easily occurs.

It is very necessary to protect teeth. Many people do not pay attention to the care of their teeth and often eat sweets, but fail to brush their teeth in time at night. This can easily lead to the gradual formation of caries. If it is only a preliminary stage, you can fill the tooth, but if it reaches the point of nerve leakage, it will be extremely painful.

Prevention of dental caries

1.) Preventing caries: Well-developed teeth starting from pregnancy provide a solid foundation for fighting caries. In terms of improving the caries resistance of teeth, we must first ensure the various nutrients needed for fetal physical and dental development, and promptly supplement high-protein, calcium, vitamins and other nutrients during pregnancy to ensure the normal development of fetal tooth germs. Secondly, pregnant women should pay special attention to preventing the occurrence of various infectious diseases.

2.) Cultivate good oral hygiene habits in children. Since the pits and fissures of the newly erupted deciduous teeth are narrow and deep, they are easy to hide bacteria and are a high-risk site for tooth decay. Paying attention to oral hygiene is the most critical part of preventing caries. Children should be educated to develop good oral hygiene habits from an early age, such as rinsing their mouths after meals, not eating sweets and snacks before going to bed, etc. Yang Xiaoqiong, Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Chongqing Medical University

3.) Preventing malocclusion helps reduce the occurrence of dental caries. Malocclusion can cause food to become stuck or retained, making dental caries more likely to occur. Therefore, it is important to prevent the occurrence of malocclusion. During the tooth replacement period, retained deciduous teeth and supernumerary teeth should be extracted in time, and missing teeth should be repaired.

4.) Balanced nutrition and less sweets. Infants and young children should have diversified food to provide rich nutrients needed for tooth development. They should also pay attention to chewing crude fiber foods, such as vegetables, fruits, beans, lean meat, etc. The fiber in these foods can rub the tooth surface when chewing and remove plaque attached to the tooth surface.

5.) Conduct regular oral examinations to detect caries early and treat them early. Children are required to have an oral examination every 3 to 6 months.

6.) The use of various fluoride products such as fluoride toothpaste, paste, aqueous solution, etc. can prevent dental caries.

7. Implementing pit and fissure sealing is a practical and effective method that can effectively prevent tooth decay. It can reduce the incidence of tooth decay by more than 90% and save children from the pain of tooth decay.

Now the whole world has "World Love Teeth Day", which shows that people are paying more and more attention to dental health. In fact, we use our teeth every day. If we have tooth decay, eating will become a problem. After eating something too sweet or too sour, we must brush our teeth or rinse our mouths. We must not go to bed right after eating. Protecting teeth starts with everyone.
