What does BCG prevent

There are many types of vaccines, and different vaccines have different effects, so when choosing vaccines, you can't do it arbitrarily. Now many children will get different vaccines after they appear, which is also very helpful for preventing some diseases. At the same time, it can also smoothly promote the baby's physical growth. So what does BCG prevent?

Many people don’t know much about BCG, so what can BCG prevent? Experts have some introductions so that when you choose BCG, you can rest assured that it will not cause any harm to your body.

What does BCG prevent:

Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG, the Chinese name comes from its inventor Ka Shi-Jie) is a vaccine used to prevent tuberculosis. It is made from live, non-toxic bovine tuberculosis bacteria (Mycobacterium bovis). After vaccination, it produces immunity to human tuberculosis by causing a mild infection. More than 90% of recipients will develop ulcers at the vaccination site that last for several weeks to half a year, and eventually heal to form scars, commonly known as "cardiac scars." After several years of propagation on a special artificial culture medium, bovine tuberculosis bacteria lose their pathogenicity to humans, but still maintain a sufficiently high immunogenicity to become a vaccine that can prevent tuberculosis to a certain extent. It is effective in preventing tuberculous meningitis and hematogenously disseminated tuberculosis.

This product was first invented by Leon Calmette and Camile Guerin. It is made by culturing BCG in a comprehensive culture medium, collecting the bacterial film, suspending it in a suitable sterile protective solution, and freeze-drying it. The obtained live bacteria preparation has the functions of producing antibodies, enhancing immunity and inducing the production of gamma-interferon. The live bacterial count of freeze-dried vaccine should be over 1 million per milligram. After dilution for intradermal injection, each 1mL contains 0.5-1 mg.

Through the above introduction, we have a good understanding of what BCG can prevent. So when choosing it, we must have a good understanding of all its aspects. In this way, when choosing it, we can proceed with it with confidence, it will not cause harm to our health, and it will not have any effect on any aspects of our body.
