Dull pain on the left side of the sternum

Dull pain on the left side of the sternum

If you feel a dull pain on the left side of your sternum, you should first consider whether it is caused by trauma. If trauma is ruled out, you should consider internal causes of the body. If there is inflammation in the body, it can also cause a dull pain on the left side of your sternum. You can go to the hospital to take an electrocardiogram to detect whether there is any problem with your heart, because the heart is the central organ of the human body. If the situation is not serious, you can take some medicine to relieve the symptoms. The following is a detailed introduction.

The patient has a dull pain in the left chest, which needs to be considered to be caused by coronary syndrome, aortic dissection, pulmonary embolism, and pneumothorax. Acute dermatitis, subcutaneous cellulitis, herpes zoster, epidemic chest pain, and myositis cannot be ruled out. It is difficult to say since we cannot see the patient now. We can do a chest X-ray and electrocardiogram. The patient's mood swings should not be too great, and he should avoid irritating and greasy foods.

Check whether there is chest trauma, chest tightness, palpitations, cough and sputum, fever, chest pain, discomfort, other discomfort symptoms, and check whether there is any abnormal electrocardiogram.

Pleurisy refers to inflammation of the pleura caused by pathogenic factors (usually viruses or bacteria) irritating the pleura, also known as "pleurisy". There may be fluid accumulation in the chest cavity (exudative pleurisy) or no fluid accumulation (dry pleurisy). After the inflammation is controlled, the pleura may return to normal, or the two layers of pleura may adhere to each other. The main clinical manifestations are chest pain, cough, chest tightness, shortness of breath, and even difficulty breathing. It is more common in young people and children.

Pleurisy can be caused by a variety of diseases such as infection (bacteria, viruses, fungi, ameba, lung fluke, etc.) and infectious factors such as tumors, allergies, chemicals and trauma. Among pleurisy caused by bacterial infection, tuberculous pleurisy is the most common. Common diseases that cause pleurisy: pneumonia, pulmonary infarction caused by pulmonary embolism, cancer, tuberculosis, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, parasitic infection (such as amebiasis), pancreatitis, injury (such as rib fracture), irritants reaching the pleura from the airways or other parts (such as asbestos), drug allergic reactions (such as hydralazine, procainamide, isoniazid, phenytoin, chlorpromazine), etc.
