When does durian ripen

Fruit is a type of food that has been around people since they were old enough to understand. When asked what you like to eat, fruit is always among them. Perhaps people have had an indissoluble bond with fruit since before they evolved. Monkeys also like to eat bananas and peaches. Fruits are rich in vitamins and water. People are familiar with the saying that eating an apple every day can keep diseases away from you. This shows that the status of fruits in people's hearts cannot be underestimated.

There are all kinds of fruits, some are sour, some are sweet, some are both sour and sweet, and some are fragrant but have no taste. People love durian, but it has an indelible flaw: it has an unpleasant smell. To say that people don’t like it is quite the opposite. It has the reputation of being the “king of fruits”.

Thai people particularly like durian and are often attracted by its unique fragrance. There are popular proverbs in Thailand such as "Pawn your sarong to buy durian; durian is red, and your suitcase is empty" and "Eat durian when you become a wife", which shows how much Thai people love durian. The whole durian is a treasure. The core can be boiled or roasted and tastes like half-cooked sweet potato. The water boiled with durian can treat itchy sores caused by sensitive skin. Durian shells and other chemicals can be used to synthesize soap and can also be used as a medicine for skin diseases. Durian is a plant of the Acacia family and is the tallest fruit tree in the tropics, with a trunk height of 25 to 40 meters. One tree can produce eighty durians per year. Durian matures in ten days after being picked from the tree. There are 200 varieties of durian in Thailand, and currently 60 to 80 are commonly grown. Among them, the most famous are three types: the light species include Yiluan, Jiaoluntong, Chunfushi, Jinzhen and Chani, which bear fruit after four or five years; the medium species include Changbing and Gu, which bear fruit in six to eight years; the heavy species include Ganbang and Ina, which bear fruit in eight years. They bear fruit once a year, and the time of maturity differs by one or two months.

It is not easy to wait for a durian to mature. The maturity of a durian carries people's expectations for a good harvest. When watching the original seedlings grow into strong trunks, the expectations in our hearts become deeper. Every harvest is the result of people's hard work, and the fruits are always given to those who give.
