Taking a shower for too long is also linked to cancer

Smoking and staying up late too much may cause cancer, which may sound common, but you may not think that even taking a long shower may cause cancer!

Recently, National Kaohsiung University in Taiwan invited scholars from the United States, Canada and other countries to discuss new forms of pollution and pollution removal technologies. The scholars pointed out that chloroform produced by tap water is a new form of ecological killer that is even more harmful to the human body. Adding chlorine to tap water is a good bactericidal disinfectant, but the chloroform produced is a carcinogen. The longer you take a shower in a closed space, the more chloroform you inhale through your breathing and skin, which can cause cancer in 12 people out of every million!

[If it exceeds 13 minutes, there will be danger!] 】

The National Institutes of Health recently published a report stating that disinfectants in tap water evaporate when heated and can cause cancer if inhaled.

The survey shows that if it exceeds 13 minutes, there is danger. The hot bath water keeps rushing over the body, and the carcinogens in the water evaporate after being heated, thus entering the human body in large quantities through the respiratory tract. Research data shows that the average bathing time for Chinese people is 13 minutes. If the bathing time exceeds this time, the body will inhale more carcinogens. That is, if you bathe in a confined space for more than 13 minutes, the longer you bathe, the higher the possibility of cancer!

Scholars believe that the public should be reminded to keep indoor air circulating as much as possible when taking a bath and to control the time not to take a bath for too long, so as to avoid the risk of cancer from bathing!

What is chloroform? 】

In fact, chloroform is another name for chloroform. Chlorine is used to disinfect tap water. While disinfecting the water, chlorine will combine with some substances in the water to form chloroform, trichloroethylene and other substances. These substances not only have the effect of disinfection and sterilization, but also have side effects on the human body.

[Does it really cause cancer?] 】

Experts in the emergency department said that they had indeed treated patients with chloroform poisoning clinically, but these patients were not poisoned by taking a shower, but were poisoned by inhaling large amounts of chloroform in a working environment with high concentrations of chloroform for a long time.

Professor Li Qi, deputy director of the Respiratory Department of Xinqiao Hospital of the Third Military Medical University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, said that chloroform is an important raw material for organic synthesis and is also used in drug manufacturing and anesthesia. There are indeed trace amounts of chloroform in drinking water disinfected with chlorine, and it will indeed evaporate after being exposed to high temperatures.

Professor Li Qi said that the statement that "taking a bath for too long can cause cancer" is theoretically feasible, but the country has a standard for the content of chloroform in tap water. The content of harmful substances in tap water that has been disinfected according to the standard is very low and has almost no effect on the human body.

[6 situations where you should not take a bath]

It is not advisable to take a bath when blood pressure is too low

Because the water temperature is high when taking a bath, water that is too hot can cause human blood vessels to dilate. People with low blood pressure are prone to insufficient blood supply to the brain and may collapse.

Women with poor physical condition should not take cold showers

Women with poor physical constitution should not take cold showers, otherwise their poor resistance will be stimulated by the cold and may cause colds, fevers and other diseases. However, you can persist in washing your face with cold water for a long time. This can effectively promote blood circulation, prevent colds and rhinitis, and make the skin more shiny and elastic.

It is not advisable to take a bath after drinking

Alcohol inhibits liver function and hinders the release of glycogen. When taking a bath, the body's glucose consumption will increase. If you take a shower after drinking alcohol, your blood sugar won't be replenished in time, which can easily lead to symptoms such as dizziness, blurred vision, and general weakness. In severe cases, you may even suffer from hypoglycemia and coma.

It is not advisable to take a bath after a full meal

When you take a shower after a full meal, the blood vessels on the skin of your entire body are stimulated by the hot water and dilate, more blood flows to the body surface, and the blood supply to the abdominal cavity is relatively reduced. This will affect digestion and absorption, cause hypoglycemia, and even collapse and fainting.

It is not advisable to take a bath immediately after labor

Whether it is physical labor or mental labor, you must rest for a while before taking a shower, otherwise it will easily cause insufficient blood supply to the heart and brain, or even fainting.

It is not advisable to take a bath when you have a fever

When a person's body temperature rises to 38°C, the body's heat consumption can increase by 20%. At this time, the body is relatively weak and accidents are prone to happen when taking a bath.

ps The water temperature should not exceed 40 degrees

First of all, too hot water will excessively wash away the normal oil on the surface of the skin, destroy the protective bacteria on the surface of the skin, and damage the stratum corneum. The longer and more you wash, the more itchy it will be. At the same time, if the water temperature is too high, it will cause the epidermal blood vessels throughout the body to dilate, reduce heart and brain blood flow, and cause hypoxia. Therefore, the appropriate water temperature should be slightly higher than body temperature, generally around 40 degrees. If it is too high, it will not only cause burns but also cause other side effects.

But is it safer if the water temperature is lower? Not necessarily. Too cold water will cause the skin pores to suddenly close, blood vessels to contract, body heat to be unable to dissipate, metabolism to be hindered, and people to feel uncomfortable. Some people insist on taking cold showers for health reasons, and some people can even swim in winter. That requires their body to allow it and they have exercised. Ordinary people should not try it blindly.
