What are lung calcification points

What are lung calcification points

Our body functions will be damaged if infected. Our lungs are often infected and lead to certain diseases. However, many of us have only heard of lung calcification for the first time and have no idea about it. So what are lung calcifications? Let’s find out.

The so-called calcification points are actually manifestations of tissue calcification. Generally speaking, the following factors can cause tissue calcification: one is the product of metabolism; two is the traces of infection and inflammation; three is the tissue changes caused by inflammatory response during tumor growth. There are calcification spots in the lungs, most of which are scars left after recovery from previous tuberculosis infection. Some people will say that they have never had tuberculosis. That's because these people are latently infected with tuberculosis and do not show symptoms of pulmonary tuberculosis, but they still have scars in their lungs caused by inflammation due to the infection. This scar is the X-ray projection of calcium phosphate or calcium carbonate deposited in necrotic lung tissue. Of course, we cannot ignore people who are engaged in certain special occupations, such as long-term exposure to dust, asbestos, granite, etc., which may cause various calcifications in the lungs, or even calcifications caused by other cancers metastasizing to the lungs and destroying lung tissue. Doctors will make a distinction based on the density and shape of the calcification points. If in doubt, more targeted examinations such as CT scans and sputum culture can be performed before confirming the diagnosis. Tuberculosis is a respiratory infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It is transmitted through the air, and inhaling sputum containing live bacteria can cause illness. Since the founding of New China, the epidemic situation of tuberculosis has changed completely. However, in recent years, due to the increase in the number of migrant population, the global incidence of tuberculosis has rebounded, and my country is no exception. In addition, the emergence of drug-resistant tuberculosis bacteria has once again attracted attention for the prevention of tuberculosis.

Generally speaking, the symptoms of mild pulmonary tuberculosis are not obvious, but if not treated in time, the patient's general condition will gradually deteriorate, with fatigue, weight loss, afternoon hot flashes, night sweats, and a dry cough at first. Later, blood will appear in the sputum, and a few people will even cough up blood. A chest x-ray is useful in detecting tuberculosis. Chest X-ray can distinguish more active lesions such as infiltrative symptoms, cavities, miliary tuberculosis, caseous pneumonia; or relatively calm tuberculomas; associated pleurisy, enlarged hilar lymph nodes, etc.; fibrous cord-like shadows or calcifications reflecting the static healing of lesions, etc. Health advice: Go to the pulmonary department for diagnosis and treatment in time when the following symptoms appear: recurrent and persistent cough, sputum, blood in sputum or hemoptysis, long-term low fever, fatigue, weight loss, etc. "Increased lung markings" is also a diagnostic result that is frequently written on chest X-ray examination reports. Generally speaking, these textures are formed by the pulmonary veins, pulmonary arteries, bronchi and lymph nodes, and are radial shadows extending from the hilum to the lung tissue.

The above is a basic introduction to lung calcification points. We can all understand that in fact, many things will make our condition more complicated because we did not discover it in time in the early stages. It is recommended that you go to the hospital for regular physical examinations if conditions permit.
