Will throat cancer kill you if it spreads?

Laryngeal cancer is a common disease. People who have it are interested in its treatment methods and whether it is life-threatening. Below, the author will introduce to you: Will laryngeal cancer kill you? How to treat it? Let's learn about it together.

I don't know how much you know about laryngeal cancer. For the health of your family, let's find out whether laryngeal cancer can kill you. For example:

Will throat cancer lead to death? Let me tell you, this disease needs to be combined with radiotherapy. It is recommended to combine it with traditional Chinese medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine can reduce the side effects of radiotherapy and improve the efficacy. You can take American ginseng, Ganoderma lucidum, and Rhodiola rosea.

Laryngeal cancer is not fatal. Laryngeal cancer is a serious malignant tumor, but as long as the patient receives reasonable treatment, he or she can survive with the tumor, improve the patient's quality of life, and prolong survival. To treat laryngeal cancer, you must go to a professional cancer hospital. Don't seek medical treatment blindly.

Through the above introduction, I believe everyone has a certain understanding of laryngeal cancer. Let's learn about how to treat laryngeal cancer.

1. Radiotherapy is mainly applicable to stage I lesions: ① Small and superficial unilateral or bilateral vocal cord cancer that has not yet invaded the anterior commissure, vocal process or subglottic area, and the vocal cords move well. ② Epiglottal margin cancer, lesions less than 1 cm. ③ Patients with poor general condition and not suitable for surgery. ④ For cancers with a wider range involving the laryngopharynx, preoperative radiotherapy can be performed first. The preoperative radiotherapy dose of cobalt-60 is 45-50Gy (4500-5000rad) within 4 weeks, and surgical resection is performed within 2-4 weeks after the end of radiation. The dose of radiation alone is 60-70Gy (6000-7000rad).

2. Vertical hemilaryngectomy is suitable for stage I vocal cord cancer. An incision is made on the midline of the thyroid cartilage slightly to the healthy side, and the affected vocal cord and the corresponding part of the thyroid cartilage are removed. However, the pronunciation function is not as good as radiotherapy.

3. Horizontal hemilaryngectomy is suitable for supraglottic cancer involving the epiglottis, ventricular band, laryngeal ventricle, aryepiglottic folds, and other areas, while the vocal cords are still intact. The surgical resection includes the epiglottis, ventricular band, laryngeal ventricle, pre-epiglottic space or part of the tongue root, and the upper half of the thyroid cartilage is transversely removed, the laryngeal mucosa is repaired, the vocal cords are retained, and the tongue root is sutured to the glottis area. If there is cervical lymph node metastasis, cervical lymph node dissection is performed at the same time. The function of the larynx can be basically retained after surgery.

4. Total laryngectomy is suitable for stage III and IV lesions: ① The vocal cord cancer is extensive and the vocal cords have been fixed; ② The vocal cord cancer has invaded the laryngeal ventricle and ventricular zone; ③ Subglottic cancer; ④ Laryngeal cancer recurred after treatment of the carbuncle; ⑤ Laryngeal cancer has spread to the outside of the laryngeal body, the thyroid cartilage has been destroyed or has invaded the pre-epiglottic space, penetrated the cricothyroid membrane, and involved the thyroid gland and other adjacent tissues.

I believe that everyone has a better understanding of laryngeal cancer. Good living habits and effective medication methods are very important for laryngeal cancer.
