What are the causes of gallbladder polyps?

There are many reasons for the occurrence of gallbladder polyps, especially in the elderly. The number of gallbladder polyps in many patients will gradually increase. This is closely related to the patient's diet and living habits in our daily life. Many patients do not understand why their polyps have increased. So, what are the reasons for the increase in gallbladder polyps? Let’s take a look together!

Gallbladder polyps refer to a type of lesions in which the gallbladder wall protrudes into the cavity in a polyp-like manner, also known as "gallbladder protrusion lesions." Clinically, gallbladder polyps include mucosal polypoid hyperplasia caused by gallbladder inflammation, polypoid changes caused by gallbladder mucosal cell degeneration, gallbladder adenomatous polyps, and polypoid gallbladder cancer. Pathologically, gallbladder polyps can be divided into benign polyps and malignant polyps. Benign gallbladder polyps are divided into two categories: benign tumor polyps and pseudotumor polyps. Benign tumor polyps can originate from epithelial tissue (adenoma) and supporting tissue (hemangioma, lipoma, etc.), while pseudotumor polyps include cholesterol polyps, inflammatory polyps, gallbladder adenomyoma, ectopic polyps, etc. Adenomatous polyps of the gallbladder are potential precancerous lesions and are associated with the occurrence of gallbladder cancer. In contrast, pseudotumor polyps such as cholesterol polyps, inflammatory polyps and gallbladder adenomyomas will not become cancerous. The surgical treatment of gallbladder polyps mainly involves the determination of whether the gallbladder polyps are benign or malignant, so as to achieve early detection of malignant and precancerous lesions and early surgical resection.

1. People who do not eat regularly and do not like to eat breakfast are the cause of gallbladder polyps. If you skip breakfast, the bile secreted at night cannot be used and will remain in the gallbladder. If the bile stays in the gallbladder too long, it can stimulate the gallbladder to form gallbladder polyps or cause the original polyps to enlarge and increase in number. Therefore, it is best to eat foods containing vegetable oils for breakfast.

2. Drinking alcohol is also the cause of gallbladder polyps. Alcohol is mainly broken down and detoxified by the liver in the body. Therefore, alcohol can directly damage liver function, cause hepatobiliary dysfunction, and disrupt the secretion and excretion of bile, thereby stimulating the gallbladder to form new polyps and/or causing the original polyps to grow and become larger, increasing the cancer risk of gallbladder polyps.

3. The cause of gallbladder polyps also includes eating high-fat, high-cholesterol foods regularly, which makes you more likely to develop gallbladder polyps. Such as liking to eat egg yolks, fish roe, animal liver, brain, intestines, etc. Increased cholesterol in bile makes it easier to form cholesterol stones. Vegetable oil can not only lower cholesterol, but also promote the conversion of cholesterol into bile acid to prevent the formation of gallstones, so it is advisable to use vegetable oil as the main food. It is best not to eat fried or pan-fried foods to avoid inducing biliary colic. When cooking, try to use light and low-fat food, steam or boil it at home, and avoid frying or deep-frying.

4. People who often like to eat foods with high fiber content and a lot of residue often experience gastrointestinal irritation and are prone to gallbladder polyps.

Through the above, I believe everyone has a detailed understanding of the causes of gallbladder polyps. It should be noted that patients should eat more light foods in daily life, not too much spicy and greasy food, and control the intake of eggs and meat. Don't always be angry in daily life.
