What types of dentures are there

We all know that once there is a problem with the teeth, they have to be repaired, otherwise it will seriously affect our chewing ability, and tooth skin damage can easily cause food stains, which will cause very unpleasant breath, and sometimes even lead to tooth inflammation and other conditions. Dentures are the most common way of repair, but many people always lack understanding of braces and don’t know how to choose. Let’s learn about the types of dentures below.

What are the types of dentures?

1. Metal braces

Traditional braces are made by bonding small pieces of iron called brackets to the teeth, and then tying corrective archwires to them to move the teeth and achieve the purpose of correction. The brackets need to be fixed together with thin steel wires (or rubber bands) and correction wires, which is not only bulky and cumbersome, but also requires the archwire strength to be adjusted and re-ligated every month as needed, causing discomfort to patients for one or two years.

The advantages of metal braces are: 1. They are thinner and less likely to irritate the oral mucosa. 2. The friction is small and the correction speed is fast. 3. No dyeing. 4. The price is relatively economical and cheap. 5. The corrector is strong enough and not easily damaged.

2. Bracketless invisible correction

Because there are many small iron plates on the teeth, it gives people the feeling of "iron mouth and steel teeth". As a result, many patients, especially adult patients, are afraid of "correction". Thus, bracketless invisible orthodontic technology and braces came into being. Bracketless invisible braces use the latest 3D computer technology to tailor a series of nearly imperceptible transparent trays. The trays are made of safe, elastic, transparent polymer materials, are less than 1mm thick, and are completely invisible, allowing teeth correction to be completed without anyone noticing.

Advantages of bracketless invisible braces: Convenience: You can put them on and take them off at your own will, without affecting social interaction, eating, exercise, etc. At the same time, the number of follow-up visits is reduced, saving your precious time; Cleanliness: Oral hygiene is easy to maintain and the brackets are easy to remove, so it is easy to clean and there is no need to worry about gingivitis, tooth demineralization, discoloration and other problems; Aesthetics: It is almost completely invisible and you will complete your teeth correction without others noticing.

3. Lingual Orthodontics

Lingual invisible orthodontic correction technology is an orthodontic technology that has emerged internationally in recent years. It is an orthodontic treatment in which all the braces are installed on the lingual side of the teeth. Compared with the traditional braces placed on the outside of the teeth, it cleverly hides the braces and no orthodontic treatment device can be seen from the outside.

4. Ceramic braces

The brackets used in semi-invisible braces are almost transparent and can be easily concealed when glued to the teeth, allowing the correction process to be completed quietly. All transparent brackets currently used are made of alumina ceramics, which have the advantage of beautiful visual effects. The larger the grains of the ceramics, the better the transparency. Transparent brackets have good resistance to contamination and discoloration. As long as the patient pays attention to oral hygiene, the brackets can remain transparent. Because alumina ceramics have extremely high hardness, nine times that of stainless steel, they will not deform and have good dimensional stability. The ceramic bracket base and the adhesive are chemically bonded, which results in uniform force and is not easy to fall off, thus significantly reducing the number of follow-up visits.

The above is an introduction to the types of dentures. After understanding, we know that there are many types of dentures. We must choose according to our own oral cavity and the location of tooth damage, so as to better ensure the health of our teeth. In addition, we must cherish our teeth and ensure good oral hygiene in our daily life.
