Correct use of orthodontic wax

What is the use of orthodontic wax

At the beginning of the orthodontic process, due to the stimulation of orthodontic devices such as brackets, ligatures, and archwires, the oral mucosa often cannot adapt and may produce a stress response, and oral ulcers often occur. This can lead to unbearable pain and affect eating and daily life.

Many people don’t know what to do with this type of oral ulcer and just follow the conventional treatment methods for oral ulcers, but the results are often not very ideal. The correct way is to use orthodontic protective wax, which will usually heal in two or three days. After one to two weeks of use, when the oral mucosa has adapted, you can stop using it.

The ingredient of orthodontic protective wax is a product made of edible wax. It has no toxic side effects and can be used with confidence.

1. The correct way to use orthodontic wax:

1. After opening the small box of orthodontic protective wax, use a small knife or the small spatula attached to the mouth mirror in the orthodontic companion to cut off a small piece of two millimeters long.

2. Knead the orthodontic protective wax into small balls. Rub the cut orthodontic protective wax with your hands to make it into a ball shape for easy use.

3. Look in the mirror and align the archwire or bracket position opposite to the ulcer, and apply orthodontic protective wax on it. Note: Do not stick it on the ulcerated oral mucosa, but on the bracket or archwire of the orthodontic device.

4. Orthodontic protective wax should be removed when eating and replaced with new orthodontic protective wax after meals.

The above is an introduction to the correct use of orthodontic protective wax. After understanding it, we must consume orthodontic protective wax under the guidance of a doctor when correcting our teeth. In addition, if we want to make our teeth healthier, we must ensure good oral hygiene in our daily life.
