Itchy calves in autumn

Itchy calves in autumn

The weather is relatively dry in autumn. If you don't pay attention to replenishing more water, your skin will become dehydrated. Over time, this may cause itchy skin, such as itchy calves. This situation mostly occurs in middle-aged and elderly people. When it occurs, you can use some mint-containing drugs to relieve the itching.

1. Pruritus in autumn and winter is more common in adults over 40 years old, and is particularly severe in the lower limbs and buttocks. These people have weakened sebaceous gland function and dry skin. In autumn and winter, bathing takes longer, more soap is used, and the skin becomes drier. As the temperature drops, the itching begins.

2. Cold and dryness are the precursors of itching, but heat is the trigger of itching. When I went from the cold outdoors to the warm indoors, took a hot shower, and lay down in bed, I started to feel itchy. I can't help scratching, but the more I scratch, the more itchy it gets. This is because scratching can damage the skin, increase skin reactivity, cause bleeding, leave pigmentation and lichenification of the skin, and make the disease difficult to cure for a long time.

1. You can use anti-itch ointments containing mint and borneol to relieve itching. Do not use topical medications containing hormones at will.

2. When bathing, you should choose a neutral or weakly acidic shower gel that does not contain fragrances, preservatives, soap bases and other chemical irritants. Apply moisturizer after bathing. If conditions permit, choose medical skin care products (skin care products that are only sold in pharmacies and used under the guidance of a doctor).

3. Wear loose cotton underwear and do not allow any residual detergent or other chemical ingredients to remain on the clothes.

4. The indoor temperature should not be too high. You can use a humidifier or plant flowers and plants to maintain appropriate humidity to reduce the evaporation of skin moisture.

6. Drink water regularly and in appropriate amounts, eat a balanced diet, and increase your fat intake appropriately.

3. For patients who have developed pruritus in autumn and winter, they should be careful not to drink alcohol, eat spicy and other irritating foods, and not use scratching, friction, and hot water washing to relieve itching. If you feel some itching, apply some anti-itching lotion or cream locally. Do not scratch or wash the area, and allow the skin to gradually return to normal. At the same time, you should pay attention to increasing the indoor humidity and add some humidifiers with humidifying function. Use Fu Ning Le for treatment as early as possible to avoid causing other skin lesions.

4. Give appropriate antibiotics.
