Is PVC harmful to human body?

PVC is a material that we often come into contact with in our daily lives. We usually use it when decorating our houses. Whether it is the ceiling of the house during decoration or the water pipes we use in our daily lives, they are all made of PVC. We have many opportunities to come into contact with it in our lives. Many friends will worry that this is a chemical material after all. Will it be harmful to the body? For such a problem, let us understand whether PVC is harmful to the human body.

PVC film has excellent quality assurance, but some people may say that PVC is a chemical product after all, it is not as good as natural materials, it cannot eliminate toxicity and odor, and it is inevitable to cause harm to the environment. This is not the case. PVC materials are harmless to the human body.

PVC, or polyvinyl chloride, is a polymer formed by the free radical polymerization mechanism of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) in the presence of initiators such as peroxides and azo compounds, or under the action of light or heat. Vinyl chloride homopolymers and vinyl chloride copolymers are collectively referred to as vinyl chloride resins. Its material is a non-crystalline material. In actual use, PVC materials are often added with stabilizers, lubricants, auxiliary processing agents, colorants, impact resistant agents and other additives. It is non-flammable, high-strength, resistant to climate change and has excellent geometric stability. PVC is highly resistant to oxidants, reducing agents and strong acids. However, it can be corroded by concentrated oxidizing acids such as concentrated sulfuric acid and concentrated nitric acid and is not suitable for contact with aromatic hydrocarbons and chlorinated hydrocarbons.

Through the above introduction, we now know that PVC is harmless to the human body and is an environmentally friendly material that can be used with confidence. It is also used a lot in our lives. It is especially common in water pipes, and it has effects and functions that cannot be replaced by other materials. We can rest assured when using it in normal times.
