Tea tree essential oil taboos

Tea tree essential oil taboos

Tea tree essential oil is a relatively precious essential oil and is popular with many people. It is very effective in relieving many skin problems. However, when using tea tree essential oil, you should also understand the side effects. If used improperly, it may cause adverse effects on the skin. First of all, you should avoid swallowing tea tree essential oil. Tea tree essential oil cannot be taken orally. In addition, you should avoid allergies when using tea tree essential oil.

Tea tree oil contraindications

Tea tree essential oil is extracted from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia plant, which is widely grown in Australia. Because tea tree essential oil has many antibacterial effects, it is often used to treat many skin problems and is very effective for acne. Tea tree oil is sometimes used on domestic animals to prevent fleas or lice. Although tea tree oil can treat many skin diseases, don't ignore its negative effects.

1. Do not swallow tea tree oil. Despite its current popularity, tea tree oil can cause serious side effects if taken orally. Taking tea tree oil internally can cause central nervous system problems, including confusion, disorientation, sleepiness, hallucinations, and even coma. Other symptoms may include stomach pain, vomiting, nausea, and feeling weak. These effects may occur after swallowing small amounts of essential oils. For this reason, do not put tea tree oil near children's mouths or use it without adult supervision. 2. Do not use tea tree oil on cats or dogs. Although tea tree oil can be used to control fleas on dogs or cats, it can be toxic to both dogs and cats, especially cats. There are many real-life reports of cats dying after using essential oils (including on their skin and in their bath water). Because cats' skin is so thin, their skin absorbs it easily. Try to avoid using tea tree oil on any domesticated animals, especially undiluted. 3. Allergic reaction: Allergic reaction to tea tree oil is rare, but it does happen.

4. It may alter hormone levels. One study showed that young boys who frequently used products containing tea tree oil or lavender essential oil may develop gynecomastia. Whether tea tree oil can cause endocrine disorders has also become a new question. Both children and adults should take it seriously. Although tea tree oil can treat many skin conditions, it is also important to understand the dangers of tea tree oil, especially when used on children and pets.
