The milk snake is a non-venomous and beneficial king snake. Milk snakes are found in the eastern United States and south of Lake Ontario. It often haunts barns and farmyards, catching mice and rabbits. Its name comes from a false legend that it loves milk. Milk snakes love to attack and swallow other venomous and non-venomous snakes, so milk snakes are immune to most venoms. It is said that some milk snakes (such as Pabula's milk snake and Nelson's milk snake) often appear near cattle farms, and people mistakenly believe that they like to steal milk, so they call it this way.
