How to preserve leftover steamed buns

How to preserve leftover steamed buns

It is impossible for every household to cook perfectly and have everything eaten by people. Sometimes there may be some leftovers. Northerners like to eat pasta, especially stuffed foods such as buns and dumplings. Because they are easy to make and nutritious, they have always been a regular on the northerners' dinner tables. How to preserve the steamed buns if you can’t finish them? Here we will tell you in detail how to preserve the buns.

1. How to store leftover steamed buns

If you can’t finish the buns, keep them in the refrigerator for a long time.

There are two storage methods, as follows:

Method 1: Place in the refrigerator, usually for up to two days.

Method 2: Put it in the freezer of the refrigerator. It can be stored for a long time after being frozen. When you want to eat it, just take it out and steam it.

No matter which method you use, make sure the buns are placed in a sealed plastic bag. This will prevent the smell from mingling and is more hygienic.

2. Can the leftover buns be frozen?

If the buns need to be stored for less than three days, they can be refrigerated for better preservation; if they need to be stored for more than three days, they need to be frozen so that they can be stored for a longer time. In addition, the following points should be noted during the saving process

1. Put the wrapped buns into the freezer of the refrigerator. Don't stack them before they harden to avoid flattening the buns and affecting their appearance (the same can be done for dumplings). 2. As long as the buns bought from outside are not too hot, they can be put directly into the freezer of the refrigerator. 3. When you want to eat them, take out the frozen buns and steam them in a steamer. Steam raw buns for a longer time (20 to 30 minutes) and cooked buns for a shorter time (5 to 6 minutes). 4. It is best to wrap them in plastic wrap and store them, which helps preserve freshness and prevents spoilage, staleness and moisture evaporation.

It is better to keep raw buns fresh in the refrigerator (provided that they are quickly frozen). If you put the steamed buns into the refrigerator and then take them out and heat them again, they will become reheated buns and the taste will be compromised.

3. Precautions for storing steamed buns in the refrigerator

1. The buns should be steamed before being stored in the refrigerator. If raw buns are kept in the refrigerator and then steamed, they will become dead dough.

2. If you need to store the buns for a long time, you should keep them in the refrigerator.

3. It is best to seal the buns before storing them in the refrigerator, otherwise the flavor will easily spread.
