What is Chancroid Disease

Chancroid is actually an infectious disease caused by Treponema pallidum, which usually occurs in the external genitalia. However, when facing this disease, we must pay attention to early detection and early treatment, because it may be transmitted through various channels.

1. Early syphilis: Patients with primary, secondary and latent syphilis with a duration of less than two years can be given intramuscular injection of penicillin, 1.2 million units on each buttock, for a total of 2.4 million units, and only one injection is required.

2. Late syphilis: including patients with tertiary skin, mucous membrane, bone lesions, latent syphilis with a disease period of more than two years, cardiovascular syphilis and neurosyphilis, etc. For benign late syphilis (blood vessels, mucosa, bones, etc.), procaine penicillin G can be injected intramuscularly once a day, 600,000 units each time, for a total of 15 times, with a total dose of 9 million units. Or use benzathine penicillin for intramuscular injection once a week, 2.4 million units each time, for a total of three times, with a total of 7.2 million units.

3. Treatment of pregnant women with syphilis: Early treatment of patients with early syphilis can prevent the occurrence of congenital syphilis. In areas where syphilis is prevalent, pregnant women who may have syphilis should undergo serological tests at least once in the first three months of pregnancy and three months before delivery.

4. Treatment of patients with early congenital syphilis: Infants born to treated pregnant women with syphilis should undergo clinical and serological examinations until the serological test turns negative or remains negative for more than three months.

5. Treatment of late congenital syphilis: The treatment of congenital syphilis in children over two years old can be carried out according to the corresponding stage of the disease in adults, and the dosage should not exceed the adult dose.

Other antibiotics: There are many antibiotics other than penicillin currently used to treat Treponema pallidum. These antibiotics include erythromycins such as azithromycin, roxithromycin, and lijunza; tetracyclines such as doxycycline, oxytetracycline, and streptomycin. In recent years, ceftriaxone sodium and ceftriaxone sodium have been tried and have achieved good clinical results.
